Year 2 will be celebrating St Francis of Assisi’s Feast day today so our class are to come into school in non-uniform!
We have been having a great week in Year 2. In Forest school we made a shelter, making sure it was covered to protect animals from rain and predators. In PE we worked as a team to follow instructions and made faces with PE equipment.
In Maths, we have been comparing and ordering numbers before starting our unit of addition and subtraction next week. In English we have written our autobiographies and started writing a character description about Mr Fox. In RE we read psalms and retold the story of Daniel and the lions, thinking about how much we trust God.
We had a brilliant morning performing and doing some harvest activities with the residents at Earlsdon Park. They were really impressed with our behaviour and attitude and have asked that we come back again soon! We made Autumnal wreaths, scarecrows, coloured in some lovely Autumn pictures and even read with the residents!
Daniel and Sophia also did some planting and it will be great to see how they are growing when we go back. Here are some pictures of our morning.
Two messages for parents:
Have a lovely weekend!

Dear Parent/Carer
10th January 2023 @ NEC, Birmingham
Young Voices is one of largest events of children’s voices in the world. The children will have the opportunity to work with professional music directors, a live orchestra, and hundreds of children from around the country. We would like to offer the Choir children the opportunity to take part in this inspiring event. The children will depart All Souls at 1pm and spend the afternoon working on the songs in preparation for the evening concert which will start at 7pm and finish by approximately 9pm.The children must be committed to learning the songs and movements by attending rehearsals every Thursday between 3.15-4.15 until Christmas break. It is along but exciting day for the children; they will travel via the school minibus and should be collected from the school at approximately 9.30pm.
We would love to see all of the Choir children wearing a Young Voices t-shirt for the concert. These cost £15.00. Parents/carers and relatives are most welcome to come and watch us perform; tickets to the evening performance can be purchased for £20 each. You will need to make your own travel arrangements. Please take look at the NEC website for parking and other travel information.
Tickets and t-shirts can be ordered via the attached form. The school will then place an order directly with Young Voices and distribute the items upon delivery. Please return your form to the school office by Friday 14th October with full payment in an envelope marked ‘Young Voices’ and include your child’s name and year group.
We are very excited to take part after the success of last year. We hope that you will support your child and the choir by purchasing tickets to come and experience this magical performance.
Best wishes,
Miss Clarke

Dear parents/ carers,
We will be going to Earlsdon Retirement Village on Friday 23rd September as part of the All Souls’ charity outreach programme from 10.30-11.30.
We will be singing 2 songs to the residents, reading with them and doing some harvest activities. I have attached the songs so the children can practice at home.
Please ensure your child has suitable footwear and a coat on this day.
Have a great weekend!

Year 2 have drawn some fantastic pictures of HRH Queen Elizabeth II on the sad occasion of her passing. We have put the pictures up in our classroom to remember her during this mourning period.
May she rest in peace.
Dear parents,
Tomorrow (Friday) afternoon we will be watching a film and I’m inviting children to bring in a snack to eat whilst watching this.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your support this year! Your children are all lovely and we will miss them as they move into Year 3!
Best wishes,
Miss Clarke & Ms McGinn xx
Dear parents,
We will be walking to the library on Thursday afternoon to take our books back, weather dependent.
Please send in library books for then.
If it is too hot to walk, I will take the books back myself.
Best wishes,
Miss Clarke
Dear parents,
Please can you return the Pledge 101 booklet tomorrow (14th July) as we need to count how many the children have done to add on to end of year reports.
Thanks for your support,
Miss Clarke
This morning the children in Year 2 were challenged to make a good water filter which would clean muddy water. We had to work as teams initially to collect water, mud and natural resources for the filter. Then we started pouring in the muddy water!
Congratulations to Maeve and George who made the clearest water!
Thank you for sending in bottles to make this possible. We had great fun!
