All Year 5 children should have brought home a letter about our cinema trip which is taking place on the morning of Wednesday 22nd November.

We are going to the Odeon Cinema (Nuneaton) to watch a screening of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as part of the Into Film Festival. This festival is a free, annual, nationwide celebration of film & education for children and so this trip comes at no cost to yourselves.The children should come to school as normal in their school uniform. We will be back in time for lunchtime.

As Beauty and the Beast is rated a PG, we require your permission in order for your child to take part in the trip and watch the film. Please bring in your permission slips (attached to the letter) ASAP.

Year 5 are going orienteering at Lake View Park tomorrow.

Please remember to bring in wellies/walking boots/old trainers because it’s going to be wet! You will also need your outdoor P.E kit and a coat.

Year 5 have enjoyed brushing up on their knowledge of the Spanish colours! Ask us to say the colours of the rainbow in Spanish!

Yesterday, we ended our half term with learning about Diwali, the festival of light, and made our very own Rangoli patterns.

We then finished off our Literacy unit on Danny Champion of the World by watching the film . We have loved reading this Roald Dahl classic!

Year 5 enjoyed being bright and colourful in aid of CAFOD!

We ended the day by holding a prayer service to think about the people of El Salvador – the place where the money we raised today is going!

Thank you to all classes, children and parents who supported the Macmillan Coffee Morning.

We managed to raise almost £100 for this fantastic cause!

Year 5 had a great time joining in with the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan.

Thank you to everyone who brought in cakes – we had a wonderful selection!

Lola was definitely our Star Baker with her wonderful ice cream cake concoction! Wow!

We also had hot chocolate and marshmallows to accompany our cake! Yum!

We also had a Bake Off Competition where children designed their dream cake. There were some very interesting designs with some very inventive ingredients (baked bean cake, anyone?)

Well done to Lily who won the competition with her four tiered gingerbread cake design!

As part of our Creation topic in RE, Year 5 visited St Francis in our Prayer Garden to have a moment of reflection and celebration for all the wonderful things that God created around us. We shared stories of St Francis and his connection with nature and then used his Canticle of Creation as inspiration to write our own Canticle. There were some beautiful and thoughtful words of praise and thanks. Well done Year 5!
