The children celebrated St Patrick’s Day in school on Friday 14th March. They came to school wearing green and they even had a go at singing a wonderful class performance of a St Patrick’s day jig with Mrs Cooke.
World Book Day 2025.
Year 3 enjoyed their Bookie Breakfast with their families where they shared stories and ate breakfast together. All of the children looked fantastic in their costumes!
Year 3 have been loving our new PE topic of Outdoor Adventurous Activities. We have been focussing on team work and working together. We have thought about how we can work efficiently as a group and the importance of communication. We have learnt lots about how important it is to listen as well as speak!
It has been great to get some fresh air to complete these activities (even if the Great British weather has let us down once or twice).
As the sun was shining today we took the opportunity to enjoy our end of day story outside and play some team games together. We taught Mrs Corkerry how to play our favourite game from Year 2 ‘Sharks and Fishes’.
We are currently reading the BFG by Roald Dahl and find the BFG’s made up words very funny!
Year 3 have been exploring our new text ‘How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’ by Michelle Robinson this week. We all loved the part where the little girl tickles the mammoth’s tummy!
We have also explored our new text type of procedural texts including instructions. We had a go at spotting and labelling the key features.

The Easter Bunny hopped by today to help Mrs Corkerry say a huge well done to the children for a wonderful term of learning and fun! The children enjoyed working with their friends to collect the chocolate eggs hidden around the playground.
Have a wonderful and restful break!
Year 1 were very lucky to be given some toothbrushes and toothpaste by the dentists that popped in to visit us earlier in the week. Some of the children were superstar patients having their teeth checked and counted.
We learnt about the importance of brushing our teeth and what we should eat/drink to look after them! We practiced the correct toothbrushing technique and even had a dance to a toothbrushing song. Thank you to our wonderful NHS for providing these for the children and inspiring us to look after our teeth!
Year 1 had such a fantastic day on their trip to the National Space Centre with Year 5!
The children were very excited to travel on a double-decker coach to Leicester and enjoyed looking out for the brown tourist road signs on our journey. When we arrived it was time to visit the Planetarium. The children were in awe and loved the experience of feeling like we were really in space.
The children learnt lots of new facts about the planets, and the lives of astronauts and explored many new space craft. Mrs Hassan’s group loved driving the robotic Mars rover and Miss Dillon’s group was fantastic at exploring all of the interactive resources. Mrs Corkerry’s group enjoyed trying to beat her on the reaction test!
The children were so polite and their behaviour was exemplary on a busy day at the National Space Centre. We are so proud of every one of them and look forward to more trips exploring new places soon!
