Football vs St Mary’s and St Benedict’s

The Year 5/6 football team played their first game in the Catholic League yesterday against St Mary’s and St Benedict’s.

It was a terrific game from start to finish with both teams creating plenty of chances. However, the team were really up for this game and battled their way through the first half leading 1 – 0 at the break. This was thanks to a fantastic team goal that was finally finished off by Kai but also due to two very good saves from Pierce.

In the second half the team carried on battling throughout the game and no matter how hard St Mary’s and St Benedict’s tried either our defence or Pierce in Goal kept them out. This allowed us to break forward and score two more goals, one from Harry and another from Kai.

Well played everyone and a well deserved victory.

Football vs Christ the King

Yesterday the Year 5/6 football team played their first game of the season against Christ the King School.

Everyone started the game in great spirits and either team could have taken the lead however it was Christ the King who struck first as they pounced on a mistake and finished well. The second goal came shortly after, this time it was a wonderful goal from Christ the Kings midfielder.

The game then could have swung back in our favor as we created a host of good chances, unfortunately though they scored a third goal on the break and that is how the game ended.

A super game from everyone and a performance we can be proud of. Well played boys!

School Games Gold Award

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in
2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Year 5 and 6 Ordination at Church

Year 5 and 6 are attending the Ordination at church this afternoon. There is a possibility that they will be back to school at little late, approximately 3:30pm.

World Cup Day

The children had a great day today celebrating the football World Cup in the sun. It started with Y1,2 and 3 in the morning – after a close group stage and some tense quarter final and semi matches we were left with a Saudi Arabia vs Morocco Final. It was a very close game but Saudi Arabia managed to win 2 – 0.

Y4,5 and 6 had their World Cup in the afternoon and just like earlier it was very close throughout the competition with a few games decided by penalties. The final this time was between Switzerland and Belgium. This proved to as close as the rest of the games but Switzerland just sneaked it 1 – 0.

Thank you to everyone that helped referee the games especially Miss Fox, Miss McGaffney, Miss Fox, Mrs Sharman and Tom McDevitt.
