Over the last few weeks in Computing, Year 4 have been developing their programming skills using Scratch — and the results have been fantastic!
The children have been designing and coding their very own racing games. They carefully created code to control their cars, making sure they could move smoothly around the track. They also programmed their games to prevent the cars from going off track, count laps accurately and include a working timer to track performance.
Today, we spent time debugging and improving our projects, making sure everything ran correctly. The children then added music to give their games an extra level of excitement and atmosphere.
To finish, the class had great fun trying out each other’s games to see who could achieve the fastest lap times. There was plenty of healthy competition and lots of impressive coding on display!
Click on the links below to try the games yourself and see what time you can set — can you beat the Year 4 records – press the green flag once the game has loaded to start (you will need a keyboard to play the games).
