This week is Sports Relief which is when the British public come together to get active, raise money and change lives. We will be joining this great cause at All Souls’ on Friday 23^rd March by running as many laps of our playground as we can from 9:00am – 3:00pm. During this time both children and staff will come together to ensure that we have at least one person running continuously throughout the day. At the end of the day we will total up everyone’s score to see how far we have run collectively.

To take part in this we are asking that the children bring in £1 on Friday all of which will go to Sports Relief. They can, if they wish, come into school in sports clothing as part of the day. You can also, if you wish, donate more by going to our Sports Relief webpage here.

If any parents would also like to take part then you can also bring a £1 to see how many laps you can complete between 8:30am and 9:00am.

Unfortunately the Coventry Half Marathon has been cancelled due to the expected severe weather over the weekend. They have not yet announced whether this is to be rescheduled or not.

URGENT NOTICE – Coventry Half and Children’s Mile 2018 Race Cancellation

It is with deep regret that the event has been cancelled due to the Met Office forecast of adverse weather conditions.
There is currently a Yellow warning for ice on Sunday for the Coventry area and an Amber warning for snow and ice in the North Midlands. There is also standing water on the route which will likely be frozen on Sunday morning and we are particularly concerned about the -8 degree wind chill and the safety of volunteers and stewards.

The organisers have not taken the decision lightly, and have consulted with the local authorities and medical support before making this decision.
We have taken this decision now to avoid unnecessary travel to the event.

A further announcement will be made in due course.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – WEATHER UPDATE
We have been closely monitoring the forecast through the day as weather conditions have worsened with the yellow warning for snow and ice for Sunday. High winds and cold weather means the forecast is currently showing a wind chill of -9 degrees.

In light of these conditions and following further consultation with Coventry City Council, the event Medical Director and other agencies we will review tomorrow if the Half Marathon and the Children’s Mile will proceed.

We will make a further announcement to all runners at 2 pm tomorrow (Friday 16th March) on our website, facebook and email on the status of the race.

The football match due to take place tomorrow, Thursday 1st March, has been cancelled due to the weather.

Ran by our wonderful Lunchtimes Assistants Workout Wednesday started today and was a great success. Plenty of children and some staff from the school worked up a sweat with a lunch time workout session to help themselves keep fit and healthy.
