Year 6 Rowing 2024

Over the last 2 days, 12 children from Y6 participated in an indoor rowing competition against over 20 other schools from Coventry. They first had individual races where they rowed as far as they could in 1 minute 30 seconds. The children were amazing at this with many of them achieving personal bests. Afterwards, they competed as a team in the 4-minute relay – they supported and cheered each other on and managed to achieve personal bests. Overall, the Boys team finished in 10th place and the girls team in 6th place. We are still waiting for the results of the mixed team that competed earlier today. Well done everyone you were all incredible.

Speed Stacking Finals 2024

On Tuesday 30th January 12 children from Year 4 took part in the Speed Stacking County Finals. Competing against 15 other schools from across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull they managed to finish in an incredible 4th position missing out on a medal by just a couple of points. A special mention to Jakob as he recorded the fastest score from any school, completing the 3-6-3 stack in just 5.5 seconds. Well done everyone you were amazing!

 

Bearpee Challenge

Today the school took part in a ‘Bearpee’ Challenge to raise money for Children in Need. The children were amazing and absolutely smashed the 1000 ‘Bearpees’ they were set – some classes completing more than double the required amount. There was also a little help and encouragement along the way as Pudsy himself came along to join in and work up a sweat. A big thank you to former parent Ms Crosbie and Coventry Building Society for helping to organise the event.

SSPA Dance – 2023

Last night our dance team took part in the SSPA Dance show at the Albany Theatre. For many of them, this was their first time performing on stage. They were incredible – their attitude, determination, enthusiasm and behaviour were not only noticed by us but also by staff from SSPA and teachers from other schools. We are extremely proud of you all – well done everyone you smashed it!!!

 

Sportshall Athletics 2023

Children from Years 5 and 6 took part in the Small School’s Indoor Sportshall Athletics Competition today. They competed in a range of events including relays, obstacle races, javelin, triple jump and many more. In total there were 12 running races, we managed to place 1st in 8 of these 2nd in two and 3rd in the final two races. This is an incredible achievement – well done everyone who ran. Unfortunately, I don’t know how we placed in the field events but I’m sure the scores were equally as impressive. Overall the team finished in 1st place, they now have to compete in the final to try and represent Coventry West in the County Finals later on in the school year. Congratulations everyone!

HADO

Today 12 children were lucky enough to take part in a non-competitive HADO competition. HADO is an argumentative reality Sport that has similarities to dodgeball. All the children had a wonderful time, especially as they won most of their games.

The children were coached by professional HADO players throughout the day, one of which is part of the current England Squad who are the current European Champions and recently finished 2nd at the World Cup.

Year 4 Tennis

This term Year 4 have been learning to play tennis in their P.E. lessons. They have learnt to stand correctly in the ready position, the forehand, backhand, serve and volley shots. On Tuesday we tried to put all these skills into practice whilst playing their first games over nets. Next week is our final lesson where we will be having our very own Wimbledon Tournament.
