In P.E this week the children in Years 3 and 4 were learning how to serve underarm. They used previous knowledge of the volley shot from last week to help them play the shot correctly.
After, we set up nets across the playground for them to take part in matches. Next week is our final tennis lesson so we will be having a year group competition to see who will be the king/queen of the court.
Year 6 have been trying to re-create their own version of the very popular Classic Nokia game Snake. Over the last 2 weeks they have coded the game from start to finish adding their own unique take on the game. I have uploaded Sienna’s and Noah’s for you to try – try getting the snake to touch the edge – can you see the differences in the game?

This week Years 5 and 6 were using their ultimate frisbee skills to play a game of disc golf. They played against a partner and had to try and get their frisbee in the net in as few shots as possible. There were hazards along the way – bunkers incurred a 1-shot penalty, water a 2-shot penalty and danger zones where they could only throw using their non-dominant hand. Next week they are taking part in a class ultimate frisbee tournament.

This term in P.E Year 2 are practicing their ball skills. Today they were trying to throw a ball differently at a target. This started by throwing the ball through a hoop – they had to try with 1 hand and 2 hands, and underam and overarm. There was only one way to end the lesson: the target being each other in a game of dodgeball.
What was their most accurate way to throw? Which throw allowed them to throw the hardest?
Today Year 2 have been practicing their typing skills in computing, We are using a website called typing.com to help us – currently, we are learning to type using the home row keys.
Children are welcome to login at home to complete lessons and play typing games – login details should have come home with your child – if you are missing them please get in touch and I will send them to you.
Today Year 6 added to the Pong game they created last week. They started by creating an algorithm that stopped the game and showed a game over button. After this, they created a new variable that controlled the speed of the ball. Finally, they made a welcome screen and start button. Have a look and play at a couple of the games below.

This term Year 4 are using Audacity to create and edit audio. Today they recorded a joke in two separate parts, they had to edit these by adjusting the sound levels and deleting sections that were not required. Finally, they stitched the two parts together to create a single file. You can listen to all the completed jokes below.
Today Y6 used a programming software called scratch to create a Pong game. Their topic this term is to look at variables in games – this game has a score variable which they had to develop and change when the game starts and when the ball hits the paddle. Hopefully next week they will add further variables to the game to make it better.
