Hello Everyone,

Where has the time gone?  I can’t believe we’re at the end of our first half term! The children have been very creative this week. We have made leaf hedgehogs for our Autumn display and Incy Wincy Spiders for our Nursery Rhyme area. The children have really enjoyed learning and performing the Nursery rhymes and we shall continue to send a new Nursery rhyme home each week for the rest of the year. The children have also enjoyed listening to African music, dancing and playing musical instruments. There have also been many dirty hands this week as the children have enjoyed  planting our Spring bulbs for our outdoor area. Lets hope the beautiful weather continues for half term and we’ll see you back at school on 29th October.

Hello Everyone,

On Monday Coventry Building Society very kindly came in to paint and tidy up our out door area which the children have been very enthusiastic about – so a very big thank you to all of the people who came in to help. They also bought some plants for us for our pots and we will plant our Spring bulbs next week as long as the rain stays away!

Next week our Nursery Rhyme focus will be Incy Wincy Spider so we will base our activities around this along with the ongoing theme of Autumn, All About Me and traditional African tales. What a rainy start to the weekend – hope you don’t get too wet!

Hello Everyone,

This week we have been talking about our families and also talking about what we look like. The children have made some lovely paper plate faces and playdough people, although some of these morphed into aliens and monsters! Today was Brighten Up Day and the children came in looking very colourful – thank you for your £1 donations and items of food and dry goods e.t.c.

Next week some volunteers are coming to spruce up our outdoor area and the children will also be planting bulbs for the Spring. We are looking forward to Open Evening on Tuesday so we can have a chat about how your child is settling into Nursery. Please be aware that this is only a five minute discussion and if you need to talk about your child at greater length then another appointment can be arranged for another day. We will continue to talk about ourselves and our families next week, discusing similarities and differences. This also ties in with Black History Month during October – if any of you have any African artefacts, fabrics, music e.t.c. which we could use in Nursery could you please let us know. We hope you have a good weekend!

The Nursery Team.

Hello Everyone,

The weather has been beautiful this week and the children have loved being outside in the sunshine. On Monday we went on our Creation walk to look at all the wonderful things God has made around us. Thank you for the brilliant ‘All about me’ posters you have sent in – the children have really enjoyed sharing them with each other. Next Friday the children need to come to Nursery in brightly coloured clothes for Brighten Up Day to raise money for CAFOD. Have a good weekend!

Hello Everyone,

Well we have come to the end of our first full week in Nursery and the children have been amazing. They are getting used to our rules and routines and making new friends. On Tuesday we went into the hall for our first P.E lesson with Jade and Marie and the children coped very well in the big space – next week we will attempt to put our pumps on so if you could encourage your child to take off and put on their own shoes at home this will help them to become more independent. The children have chosen a library book today – remember you are welcome to come in with the children to help them choose a book every Friday morning. On Monday the children will take turns in bringing  home a rhyming pack for you to share at home together – could you please return these each Friday. Due to the blustery and rainy weather yesterday we were unable to do our Creation walk so we will aim to do this on Monday. In the next couple of weeks we will be planting bulbs ready for the Spring so any donations of bulbs or Autumn bedding plants would be very welcome. Although it’s probably going to be a wet one, we hope you all have a good weekend!

Welcome to Nursery!

By Mrs S Schofield14th September 2018

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to our Nursery blog. What a brilliant start the children have made this week – they have settled into the Nursery setting so well so a big thank you to you all for your help and support with this. From Monday the children will be staying for the full session 8.30 – 11.30 so there may be some tired children coming home at the end of the week! The children have been very involved in lots of different activities this week and the construction area, home corner and diggers outside have been a big hit. Next week we will be going on a Creation walk to look for all the wonderful things God has created around us, so if you have’nt already done so could you bring in a pair of wellies for Monday. The children will also be going into the hall next Tuesday for their first P.E lesson, but we won’t be attempting to put on our P.E kits just yet! On Friday we will be starting our Nursery library  – the children will be able to choose a book to bring home for the week and then it needs to be popped back into their book bag for the following Friday. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Hello Everyone,

This week we have changed the outside area so the children can practice their throwing, catching, kicking and aiming skills. The big green bus has also arrived – all aboard! Today Jane came in to make pizzas with the children – they put on their own toppings and we made extra for the staff – children and adults thought they were delicious! Next week is our last full week in school – where has the time gone? But remember we don’t break up until Tuesday 25th July. We are going to have our end of year party next Friday, so get out your party clothes children! I’ll send a reminder out on Monday about the party. Have a good weekend!

Hello Everyone,

What a busy week we’ve had! On Monday Jamie’s mum and dad who are paramedics, brought their ambulance to school. This was a really valuable and fun hands on experience for the children – they were shown all the equipment on the ambulance and learnt what different things were used for, as well as having the opportunity to dress up. Thank you so much to Mr and Mrs Hand for giving the children this experience.

On Thursday afternoon it was Sports Day. Thank you so much for all of your support with this and I’m sure you’ll agree the children ran their races brilliantly. We also dug up our potatoes this week and they were cooked and readily consumed today at snack time – the children thought they were the most delicious potatoes they had ever eaten! Enjoy the football and the continuous sunshine this weekend!

Hello Everyone,

What beautiful weather we’ve had this week! We’ve been talking about how to keep safe in the sun and the children have also been taking care of our plants in the hot weather by giving them plenty of water to drink. With Sports Day approaching Nursery have been out on the field practising their races and we are very impressed with them – staying in their own lane at 3 and 4 years old is not easy, and they’ve been brilliant!

We have bought a new bird table in Nursery with money that was donated to us from the family of Veronica Murphy. Veronica worked in our Nursery for many years and sadly she passed away earlier this year. Mrs McCloskey worked with her and said that she loved planting and helping in the outdoor area and so we asked if we could use some of the money that was generously donated to our school to buy a bird table. A big thank you to Veronica’s family!

Next week we will be ready to dig up our potatoes we planted earlier in the year – the children are very excited about this and we can’t wait to cook them and eat them. Also next Wednesday Jamie’s mum and dad, who are paramedics, are bringing an ambulance to school to show our Nursery children. Finally, don’t forget Sports Day on Thursday afternoon! Have a good weekend!

Hello Everyone,

The children have loved playing outside this week – the climbing frame, mud kitchen, planting area and water tray are the hot favourites at the moment. According to the weather forecast it is set to get even hotter next week so don’t forget to apply sun cream to the children before they come to Nursery and could they also bring in a sunhat if they don’t already do so. Yesterday we made our own homemade ice – cream which was a big hit with the children at snack time today. The overall consensus was that home made ice-cream is better than shop bought! The children visited their new Reception class last week and this week – Mrs Gilks was very impressed with their good manners and the way they worked. On Monday the school are having a World Cup day so the children can come to Nursery dressed in a football kit, the colours of a particular country, or just non – school uniform. Enjoy the weekend!
