Miss Jade was very impressed with Nursery’s listening and following instructions in their second P.E lesson. As well as learning to skip, jump, twirl, hop, find and work in their own space and having a good dance, they were also very impressive at playing ‘Follow my Leader’.
We also had fun this week playing listening games with differnt musical instruments.
We have been making the most of the fine weather this week and have taken the opportunity to play and learn outside as much as we can. Nursery are loving making new friends and exploring our indoor and outdoor setting. The children had their first P.E lesson in the hall with Miss Jade on Tuesday and they were absolutely fantastic; they had great fun and were brilliant at following instructions. The children have come up with some great ideas about how to make our teepee even cosier, including blankets, cushions, teddies, books and fairy lights, so watch this space!
The children have had a fabulous first week in Nursery and we have been super impressed with how quickly and happily they have settled. The children have been waiting with great anticipation to use our new outdoor teepee, which Mr Youson has been assembling for us this week. From Monday our Nursery sessions will be 8.30 – 11.30 for each child. As soon as Nursery parents have completed the photos permission forms, we will be able to post photogaphs of the activities we have been doing, each week. A big thank you to all the Nursery parents and carers for helping to support us with settling the children this week.
Congratulations to Bertie and Layla who got married today,in Nursery. Everyone looked resplendent in their wedding clothes; it was a beautiful ceremony followed by a celebration dinner, cutting the cake and dancing. It was a lovely morning and good fun was had by all.
We have had a very busy week. The children have had two transition visits to Reception class and I know that Mrs Jilks and Mrs Elkins are looking forward to working with them next year. On Monday we had a lovely prayer service which was led by Year 5 and we are going to have another one next week. We have made a couple of visits to The Dementia Group at All Souls’ Church in the last couple of weeks which the group members and our children have greatly enjoyed. It was wonderful to see so many of you on Friday morning for our Sport’s Day; the children did amazingly well and it was so good to invite you into the Nursey afterwards for refreshments.
This week another six Nursery children visited the dementia group at All Souls’ Church. The children enjoyed playing games and chatting to the group members.
On Thursday, Nursery visited Wonderland in Telford. A great day was had by both adults and children alike. Everyone had good fun and the children were brilliant throughout the day – they did us proud!
As well as having a fabulous Jubilee party with Reception class yesterday, we also had additional excitement in Nursery as our butterflies finally emerged. By the end of the day we had four beautiful painted lady butterflies with the final one emerging this morning. The butterflies can’t be released for two to four days so I have brought them home to release – I will post photos/ a video for the Nursery children to see. The children have been fascinated to watch the transformation from tiny caterpillars to beautiful butterflies. Six of our children also visited the dementia group yesterday to participate in activities – the group members were delighted to see the children dressed up as princesses and in red, white and blue – well done children, you were amazing!
There is great excitement in Nursery as our caterpillars turned into chrysalides at the beginning of the week. We have been fascinated to watch them grow and change and we are now waiting in anticipation for them to emerge as butterflies. Yesterday, Year 6 visited Nursery to lead a prayer service. The Year 6 children were wonderful role models who sat with and supported our Nursery children, who gained so much from the experience. We have to say a special thank you to Ffion, Peach and Alicia who prepared and led a beautiful service for us.We are going to make this a regular feature and we are going to come together with Year 6 every two weeks. This week we have also planted corgette, sweetcorn and carrot seeds and bedding plants which some of our children have kindly brought in.
As we prepare for Pentecost in Nursery, we have been learning about The Holy Spirit. We have learnt that The Holy Spirit is God’s helper and our helper ,and just like the wind and air, it is a powerful force that we can feel but we can’t see. To demonstrate this concept we did different activities to show the power of air by blowing out candles, having a balloon race by moving balloons by waving pieces of card, using fans to move marbles around, blowing through straws to move feathers, blowing bubbles and making bubble prints.
