The Reception Class enjoyed sharing learning with their parents. We held a prayer service and then made Lenten candle holders. Thank you for all the family members who came to join us.

They were very excited all morning looking forward to them arriving . We hope that the family members enjoyed the visit.
The Reception children enjoyed sharing their lunchtime with their mum, grandmother’s or aunties today.
Today we explored the weather. We looked outside and talked about what we could see. Then we made snowy pictures. Afterwards we put on our hat, gloves, coats and wellingtons and went outside to play and build in the snow.

We had a lovely afternoon on Wednesday working with our Year 6 Prayer friends. They helped us to complete some craft activities and we all had so much fun. Thank you Year 6 for showing us what to do and having a lot of patience!
The Reception children have been making the most of the weather and conducting some experiments. We left out some cups of water of different heights/capacity to see what would happen. The children predicted that they would all freeze. When we went out to look the next morning all had frozen but some had not frozen to the bottom. The children decided that this was because there was more water in those cups.

Today Reception have been celebrating how we all belong to God’s Family. We drew our picture onto a heart and then placed our heart in the middle. The other children told us how beautiful we are. We ended our activity with a song “God made me! “
We became scientist today to conduct an experiment to find out which drink is best for our teeth. We used chalk to represent our teeth (the children were not keen on Mrs Jilks pulling out one of theirs !) and put them into water, cola, milk and black tea. We put one in the cup without anything to use as our test. We are going to look at what has happened at the end of the week.
We have been thinking about Queen Elizabeth and how would could remember her. We decided that because we couldn’t go to London to take flowers, we would make flowers to decorate our pictures.
Welcome! This blog page is one of the places you will find out what your child has been doing in school. We will update the page to show any special events or activities. Below you will find some photographs of the first week in reception. We have been very pleased with how well the children have settled in.
The children had fun practising fine motor and gross motor skills. They were very good at climbing over and through the climbing equipment.
