We have enjoyed a very busy, exciting last week at Nursery.  The visit to the Theatre to see Santa’s Dizzy Day went very well.  The children were a credit to you all, they were so well behaved.  The show was just the right length and very interactive, the children enjoyed singing and helping to solve the problems.    We then went on to visit Santa himself, all very exciting. Earlier in the week we  helped to make biscuits with Mrs McCloskey and were pleased that they looked so good.  To end the week we had a party and some of us had our faces painted by Mrs Jilks.   We  have included a few photographs below and will make sure that your childs picture with Father Christmas is in their learning journey.  Finally we would like to say a big thank you for all the lovely cards and presents we received, you were really generous. Happy and peaceful New Year to you all.

We cannot believe that its the last week of term! The children have worked so hard and achieved so much.  We have a busy week ahead, starting with our visit today from  Santa’s Elves.  He brought us a reply to our letters to Father Christmas, we got very excitied.  We are looking forward to our visit to the Belgrave Theatre on Thursday, when we will get to see Santa himself.   We will be busy finishing off our Christmas cards and decorations during the week.   On Friday it is party day, the children can wear party clothes or join the rest of the school wearing a jumper and donating a pound to our NSPCC appeal.  Please let a member of the Nursery staff know if you do not wish your child to have their face painted during the party.  Thank you for your support this term.  Nursery Staff.

We have started to practise our Christmas nativity play.  The  children have all been given parts and we got very excited trying on the costumes.  The play is on Tuesday the 9th in the afternoon and Wednesday the 10th in the morning.    We look forward to seeing you all at one of the performances.

We have still been busy learning, we have been focusing  on repeating patterns and traditional tales.  Some of the children have become very good at making patterns   and can now make up repeating patterns using a sequence of three. We have also been using the interstar to practise our fine motor skills.  

During these next two weeks we are starting to  look at Christmas around the world, beginning with Germany.  We are making a gingerbread house and tasting gingerbread men.  We are going to make a gingerbread man Christmas decoration.  We have been thinking about our senses and this week we will be exploring the sense of taste.  In Numeracy we are going to be recognising and ordering numbers to twenty using the 12 days of Christmas song and numbered gingerbread men.  We will begin to use Claus Construction Company to design and make toys and decorations.

This week we have been working on designing our Christmas cards so that they can be sent off to be made into real cards.  We can then buy them to send at Christmas.  We all had our photographs taken, we were great  models and so it will be difficult for our Mums and Dads to decide which photographs to buy! We have been playing lots of listening games to help our phonics and some of us played games to extend our mathematics skills.  In RE we learned about  why Mary is special and sang a prayer to her. If we haven’t got a photograph of Mum yet, please can you bring one in. 

This week we learned how to make the Sign of the Cross.  We talked about how it made us think about God in our heads and his love in our hearts.  Some of the children helped to show us what to do.

We have been talking about how we can count lots of things not just objects.  We counted claps, beats and jumps.

We have also been creative designing and making models.  Prudence and Annabelle made rockets and Joachim made a tree with birds. Lily Rose just enjoyed cutting, sticking and gluing.

  We made use of the dry days and explored outside using the hoops,scooters,bikes  and balance pots. Please can we have a photograph of Mum for our R.E. this week.  We are looking forward to a busy week ahead.

This week we have been very busy looking at print in the environment, learning about how God created our very  special world, and looking at position in mathematics. We went on a walk around the school looking for examples of print.  The children were very good at finding words in the environment.

We have been playing games moving under, over, in front and behind.  We enjoyed exploring moving around the Trim trail.

We visited the garden on the field and talked about the things that God made.  The children found lots of things God made and talked about some of the things they grow in their gardens at home.

We are excited and looking forward to a busy week ahead.  Watch this space!

The children have started to understand the routine of the day.  We have been learning how to count, order and recognise numbers.    We went on a walk around the school, meeting the staff and becoming use to the environment.  We visited the chickens and looked at the first egg that they had laid. The children decided that the chickens were very noisy!
