Reception would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who provided cardboard to help us make the Gingerbread house in our class. The children have had great fun decorating and playing in it.

Over the last two weeks the reception children have been working really hard and have learnt so much. We have been looking at different faiths and how they celebrate. We found out about a Hindu festival and a Jewish festival. We made diva lamps for Diwali and Hanukkiah candle holders. We found out about Guy Fawkes and why we have fireworks and also why we have Remembrance Day and poppies. We made a lovely poppy display to help us remember. This week we have been looking at road safety and thinking about how we can help others. We had a sponsored bike ride and cake sale to raise money for Brake. Thank you very much for your generous donations to our Cafod day. We had lots of money and bags of food to be donated to those in need.
Today we spent some time with our prayer friends and the children enjoyed. We are looking forward to the Reception Welcome Mass on Sunday at 9.30 am and practised our song again. We hope to see you there.
One of the responsibilities that comes with being Year 6 is becoming a prayer friend to a child in Reception. Both classes were so excited to meet this week and find out who their prayer is. We then shared in our first of many collective worships to begin our journey through faith together.
This week we will be looking at the phonemes g,o,c,k. We are having photographs taken on Thursday and wearing green for Cafod on Friday. A donations of £1 or a tin of food would be appreciated.
This week we were looking at how to move around the space in the hall with Miss Jade.
We do a warm up when we say hello and move our hands and feet.
This week’s phonemes are i,n,m.d We will practise these daily on Monday to Thursday and consolidate on Friday.
In our RE sessions this week we will be looking at the talents that God gave us. Please could you send in a photograph of your child doing something they are good at. This might be riding a bike, baking, dancing, football, colouring etc.

We went on a walk to find some of the things that God created.
We would like to say well done to all the children in Reception who managed their first full day with a smile on their faces. They coped well in the dinning hall and on the playground at lunchtime.
Today we did out first phoneme ‘S’. The challenge for them is to find something at home beginning with that phoneme (the sound the letter makes). Please help them to do this for the first few times and then hopefully they will be able to complete this task on their own.
Tomorrow is our first PE lesson. We will encourage the children to get themselves dressed and undressed but will help with buttons.

We have been thinking about how important it is to look after our teeth. We have conducted an experiment to find out what drink is best for our teeth. We used chalk to represent our teeth and placed it in cola, milk, water, blackcurrant juice and black tea. We are going to check them daily to find out what happens. Ask your child on Friday what we found out!
Today we picked the potatoes the we grew outside. We made potato salad and then ate it! Some of us enjoyed it, some of us didn’t.

We were very excited today to be able to visit the Church. Father Paul told us all about the Easter Candle. We enjoyed looking around the Church and pointing out the different things we saw. Thank you Father Paul.
Well done Reception you showed lots of knowledge and were very well behaved.
