Some wonderful pictures and descriptions from Abbie started the week. Abbie has worked really hard with her maths and measured lengths and weights of items around the house. In science, Abbie designed and constructed a comfortable and useable home for hedgehogs, where they can stay safe and have access to food and water. Abbie chose to complete her brochure on Penzance and used some beautiful photographs to show the great things that can be enjoyed there. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Abbie’s description of Mr Twit’s garden, have a read of it below, I am sure you’ll agree that it is a fantastic piece of writing from a child in Year One! Abbie always plans her writing like we do at school and it shows! Well done Abbie, a great start!

George has been working hard and had a very busy week. He flew through his maths showing his little brother how to measure volume accurately and moved on to working hard on his reading comprehension. George decided to follow the journey of a potato right from planting the potatoes through to when we buy them at the shops. George once again blew me away with his responses n his RE lessons this week and chose a very reflective Bible story about the disciples asking Jesus how to pray and have more faith. I think it was a lovely choice, and maybe we could all say the Our Father for our All Souls’ family. I particularly liked George’s rocket that he made out of Lego, have a look below!

Another great start for Grace this week. She has flown through her maths work and is continuing to work hard on her reading comprehension. This week the children were tasked with writing a creative story using an opening sentence given to them. Grace has made a good start and I can’t wait to read the finished piece. Grace has also made her own healthy food plate. As part of our D&T focus we are looking more closely at the things we eat and making sure we are having a balanced diet. Grace has made her plate and chosen foods that she enjoys from each of the food groups. Well done!

It was lovely to receive an email from Jamie this week. He has been trying hard with his home learning and shared a few of these activities. I enjoyed seeing his Hedgehog home that he has designed and made. He chose different materials that would protect the hedgehog from the wind to keep them safe. Jamie also followed a recipe to make a chicken and chorizo salad, it looks very tasty! A budding chef in our midst. Well done Jamie – Keep it up!

A great update from Phoebe today. She started the week working hard on her phonics, spelling, English, D&T and RE! What a busy start to the week! Phoebe also took a break from her work and went with her mummy for a long walk. It is lovely to hear that the children are getting out and about and having this time away from directed learning to let go and have conversations with those they love. Well done Phoebe!

It was wonderful to get and email from Sophie, updating me on all the wonderful things she has been up to whilst learning at home. A few of the tasks she has completed are below. I particularly enjoyed reading Sophie’s Easter prayer and seeing her lovely steps of plant growth. Sophie’s artistic skills were showcased in the lovely detailed drawings of the different stages of a plant’s life cycle. Sophie has also been working hard on her reading comprehension and remembering to answer in full sentences. What I was very happily shocked and very proud of how amazing her cursive writing has become! She has clearly worked very hard and practises regularly. Well done Sophie!
