Christmas Cheer in Year 6!

Christmas has certainly brought out the best of year 6!

The week kicked off by us typing up our “Boy in the Striped Pyjamas” themed newspaper report. We all are very proud of the outcome of them. Later on our amazing choir wowed everyone at the Maudslay with their singing skills to raise some more money for their entrance to Young Voice 2014, the most prestigious children’s music concert around. We are very proud of the Choir as they raised a whopping £166! The day certainly ended on a high!

Just like Monday, Tuesday was a blast. We accompanied our Prayer Friends to Church for the first time this term.  Later on the Choir had another opportunity to perform at our annual Carol Concert and some other children either narrated or acted. There was really something for all of us! We then sang a special happy birthday to Finn who turned eleven that day.

The fabulous week continued on Wednesday by us getting artsy with glitter, card and stencils as we made some considerate Christmas cards for our loved ones. We were getting very excited by the sound of Christmas crackers snapping as we got ready to dig into our Christmas dinners. AIP organized a Christmas word search for anyone having a Christmas word search and we congratulated Orla J as she won and soon she will be the owner of a brand new bike. Mrs Hartwell then put our knowledge to the test as we completed a Christmas themed quiz. Well done to Kelsey, Ju-Eun and Orla O for completing the quiz with the most correct answers.

On Thursday, we had our first ukulele concert with special guests… Our prayer friends! By the end they were clapping and singing along with us! Later on we changed into pyjamas (some people even put in the effort to wear striped pyjamas!) and got ready to watch “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas”.  Most of us thoroughly enjoyed the movie but on the other hand some people preferred the book. We learnt how hard life was for some people during World War II and the Holocaust.

The last Friday of our first half term of Year 6 has come so quickly. We all brought in a pound in order to be able to wear non-uniform for the day. We got in teams and had a hockey tournament with Year 5 and we are happy to say Year 6 were left as proud winners! Then in the afternoon we had a party where we were allowed to play with our toys and eat lots of yummy food – we loved it!

Well done to this weeks Superstars:

Roisin for great passion in all her singing and Ciara for improved concentration in class.

From all of Year 6, we wish you a very merry Christmas!

We are excited to see what next year brings!
