We’ve had a great week in Year 2!
Monday started with a very young visitor to the class. To help explain the differences between a newborn baby and children of 6 and 7, Year 2 children thought of questions they would like to explore and ask of a newborn baby and mother. Many thanks to Rose and mum for coming in and well done to Year 2 for all the interesting questions.
On Tuesday Year 2 geared up for the cold so we could explore the outdoor environment around Ryton Pools.

Children worked hard to design and build shelters to keep them warm and dry in the woods.

Teamwork and competitiveness were both on show even when temperatures dropped to single digits.

In the afternoon we hunted for minibeasts in their natural habitats. Children used brushes and magnifying pots to take a closer look at the creatures they caught.

Year 2 really impressed me with excellent behaviour on a cold and busy day. Well done! Thanks go to all the parents who got children ready for the day and teachers for leading groups.
Later in the week, Year 2 began to prepare for the season of Advent. Children have started to examine symbols of the Advent period and as a class we have created an Advent wreath to use during prayer services.

Thank you Year 2 on an all around brilliant week.
