Really pleased to see that, once again, our academic success has been recognised by local and national press.
The Coventry Telegraph single out All Souls as the only Coventry school in which all Year 6 pupils achieved the national standard of a ‘Level 4’ in reading, writing and maths.
The Times have also published lists today of the top performing schools in all Local Authorities across the country. We are very proud to see our name at the top of the Coventry list.
Had a brilliant afternoon with Year 5 & 6 at Planet Ice yesterday. They were probably the most resilient bunch of children I’ve taken. By the end of the afternoon, everyone was skating (no side clinging!) and falls to the floor were slightly less frequent. What impressed me most was the determination of the children. Lots of them fell over and hurt themselves, but they all got back up, carried on and, in most cases, smiled!
We also completed the walk to and from school in record time, although I think that was perhaps more down to the rain than anything else.
Thanks to all of the adults, including parents, who came and supported the children.

Seems like months ago now, but less than two weeks have actually passed since we held the school’s first silent disco. I have to say that it felt like carnage to me and Mrs Quinn, but at the end of the evening, we were pinned to the wall by groups of children demanding to know when the next one would be (we’re potentially contemplating a silent valentine’s ball!). A big belated thank you to all the children who supported the event and also the members of staff who very bravely stayed to help. Apologies to those who were greeted with a selection of hymns when they turned on their mp3 players – I couldn’t resist sneaking a couple on! Thanks also to Charlotte and AIP for preparing and supplying the chips!

The netball team produced their best performance of the season so far when they beat St Mary and St Benedict’s 10-4 tonight. Much of the game was a closely fought contest, but our brilliant players kept their heads up, took their chances and worked incredibly well as a team. This means that, having played four games so far (all of them away fixtures) we have won 3 and lost 1.
We thank our hosts for their hospitality and good sportsmanship tonight.
A big well done to Issy, Emma, Libby, Owen, Mia, Ethan, who was our captain for the match, and Aliscia, whose performance earned her the ‘player of the game’ accolade.
You have two very proud coaches!

On Wednesday, we took class photos from Nursery through to Year 6, which will be used in school and also on the school website. Next week, once we have finalised the printing arrangements, we will be making them available for parents to purchase from the school office. I was blown away by the performance of our brilliant netball team tonight. They bounced back from last week’s defeat at Christ the King to beat St Augustine’s 17-1. It was by far the best performance of the season so far – and a superb team effort. A huge well done to Aliscia, Mia, Emma, Issy, Libby, Owen and tonight’s captain and player of the game, Ethan. A big well done and thank you also to St Augustine’s for their hospitality, sportsmanship and for not giving up – they really did battle hard until the final whistle. A final thank you to the parents and supporters who came to cheers us on.

Well done to all the children who were selected and took part in the first School House Maths Challenge this morning. We had a lot of fun showing off our knowledge of times tables, number facts, shapes and other maths bits. In the end though, there can only be one winner in a competition, and Cana were the run-away leaders on 31 points. The next house was Nazareth, who were way back on 19 points! The second round the of the challenge will take place during the Spring term – I can’t wait!

Further to the information on the school newsletter, a letter is coming home today about the school’s silent disco for children in Years 1-6, which is taking place next Friday, 27th November. The letter and details can be found here.

I have arranged an end of term Ice Skating Trip for children in Years 5 & 6, which will take place on the afternoon of 10th December. The children have been issued with letters today, a copy of which can be downloaded here. Those children not wishing to skate will stay at school and have a movie afternoon.
