Year 4 homework 14/09/2016

By Mr J Marsh14th September 2016

The Year 4 homework this week is to choose ONE of the columns from the sheet (A, B or C) and complete it. Use your knowledge of place value to help you add and subtract 10, 100 and 1000.

Remember, your homework needs to be presented just like your work in class with:

  • The date
  • A title or LO
  • A line left between each question answered
  • Any mistakes should be rubbed out, not crossed out
  • Completed in pencil

Anyone managing to present their homework PERFECTLY will earn a raffle ticket.

Homework should be handed in on Monday (19/09/2016).

Year 4 RE – Creation

By Mr J Marsh11th September 2016

Year 4 made a great start to their first R.E unit this week by looking at the Story of Creation. There were some super contributions to our class discussion about the topic and the whole class engaged fully in the passage from the book of Genesis.

Here is the work of Molly, Jude, Lorcan, James, Harry, Lucas and Lucy who each made a poster representing one day of the creation story. The work will be displayed in the classroom and they will also present and explain it to the Year 1 class next week.

Well done!

Welcome back Year 4!

By Mr J Marsh11th September 2016

Year 4 have had a great first week back at school this week. I have been very impressed by many members of the class so far and I am really looking forward to what the year has to hold.

Congratulations to Zuzanna and Pierce, our first Super Stars of the year. You have both had a great start and are setting a super example for everyone in the class.

We have a busy and exciting week ahead which will include:

  • Our first steel pans music lesson on Monday!
  • E. with Mr Youson (Monday) and myself (Wednesday)
  • ICT with Mr Cooke (Thursday)
  • Starting our geography work with me and history work with Mrs Hands (Tuesday afternoon).
  • Making a start on our book for the half-term – Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.

Royal Albert Hall

By Mr J Marsh15th June 2016

The school choir had fantastic trip to the Royal Albert Hall yesterday and as always, the children did the school proud. After a long rehearsal the choir sang their hearts out to a full Royal Albert Hall for over two hours. We were also treated to a performance from Kevin and Karen from Strictly Come Dancing (see video!).

Mrs Ellis, Ms Croarken and Mrs Elkins have done a wonderful job and everyone involved in the choir should be very proud with what they have achieved!

Year 4 Poetry

By Mr J Marsh10th June 2016

Year 4 have been learning about different types of poetry this week including haikus, tankas, cinquains and limericks. Here of some of the highlights!

Limericks:

There was horse with a golden main,

who went for a ride on a train,

he pranced around

and fell to the ground,

then went back to do it again.

By Lewis

There was once a man from Mars

who used to love chocolate bars

he cooked a few dozen

but they got trapped in the oven

oh that silly old man from Mars.

By Caleb

There was a man from Ealing

who has spots on his ceiling

he could not wear a hat

his head was too fat

and it gave him a funny old feeling

By Jake

Haikus:

People are shouting,

Summer is our reigning king!

Summer rules the world.

By Joshua

Leaves are descending.

It is getting windy now.

Tankas:

The cliff was huge,

long, wet hall with the water

drizzling from the side

like treacle from a sponge cake

It sparkles in the sunlight.

By Harvey

Up above the trees

Blueburds and Sparrows will fly

Up in the blue sky

over rainbows and clouds.

All the way. Up in the sky.

By Harvey
