It has been great to see everyone in Year 6 get involved in World Book Day today. There were some great costumes and the class loved reading a story to their Prayer Friends in Reception this morning – something that we hope to make a regular occurrence.

As part of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, Year 6 have now chosen their confirmation saint name. During this process, they have thoroughly researched the life of the chosen saint and have produced some wonderful pieces of work to help them communication what they have learned (see some examples below).

Please come along in support of their preparation to our ‘Speed Sainting’ evening, when you will get chance to see their work and hear all about it. This will take place after school on 14th March.

Over the last few weeks Year 6 have been putting together their own routines in gymnastics lessons. The routines included balances, rolls, cartwheels and movement between these. Here are some of the examples (right click and then click ‘Open in new tab’ to watch):

Year 6 had an excellent trip to Coombe Country Park yesterday. They braved the cold temperatures and explored the water and woodland habitats around the park, learning about new species and what habitats they live in.

Craft Club have been hard at work learning how to weave using different textures. Here they are in action:

Today in RE Year 6 discussed the Catholic belief that Mary and the saints shared life in Heaven. The children created their own images representing Heaven and wrote descriptions to accompany them – here are two of the highlights:

Year 6 had an excellent discussion this afternoon about the influences and pressures that they encounter online. After discussing some different scenarios to do with influences, the class came up with a list of different pressures that they can encounter and what advice they would give to someone who felt under these pressures.
