Year 6 – War Memorial Park – Local Heritage Study

Year 6 began their local heritage study of the War Memorial park this week by exploring the park and making a list of questions that they want to find the answers to. They will be continuing the study next week at the Herbert Art Gallery when they undertake the ‘Coventry at War’ session and have a look at the Coventry Archives.

Year 6 – History Local Heritage Study

Year 6 are conducting a local heritage study this half-term based on the War Memorial Park. In order to get the most from this topic I have arranged some visits for them to develop their knowledge and skills in different ways. Please see below the details of the visits over the coming weeks. Please take note of the practical information. All of the visits require children to arrive at school and be collected at normal time.

Year 6 Easter Holiday Homework

  1. Complete KS2 SATs Grammar Test D on SPAG.COM (The average score of the class has increased dramatically since the start of the year. Let’s try and increase it further!)
  2. Complete maths reasoning booklet (Mr Marsh’s group) or Complete the booklet given to you by Mr Cooke (Mr Cooke’s group)
  3. Complete both times tables grids (4 mins max).
  4. Read!!! Regularly read and make sure it is recorded in your Reading Record.

Lenten Prayer Service – Year 6 and Reception

Reception joined Year 6 for a lovely prayer service this afternoon. We were all so impressed with how the Reception children joined in by offering their own personal prayers. Well done to Michael, Sophie and Shakira for leading the service.

Year 6 were joined by representatives from Coventry and Warwickshire Magistrates today. The children enjoyed learning more about the Magistrates Court and then conducted a mock trial!

Speed Sainting

Thank you to everyone who came along to support Year 6 in their Confirmation preparation this evening by attending our Speed Sainting evening. The children were fantastic, speaking to a number of different adults about their choice of saint.
