We had such an amazing time this week when we visited Legoland Discovery Centre and The Sea Life Centre. At Legoland, we built and raced cars and adapted them to try and make them quicker and lighter. We also had a competition to see who could create the tallest, most stable building that could withstand an earthquake. We also got a chance to go on the rides and visit Miniland where we saw Birmingham’s landmarks which had been built out of Lego.
After lunch, we walked over to The Sea Life Centre where we got the chance to learn about all kinds of marine life. We enjoyed meeting the penguins, otters, sting ray and archer fish as well as all of the other sea animals. Our favourite part was walking through the 360° tunnel and spotting the sharks and meeting Molakai the giant green sea turtle. We had a wonderful day learning lots of new things and I’d like to thank the children for being so polite and well-behaved throughout the day.
Thank you to all of the mums, aunties and nans who came and celebrated Mother’s Day with their children today. It was a lovely atmosphere in the hall and the children really enjoyed sharing their lunch with you.
Today Year 3 and 4 celebrated mass with Father Paul and Deacon Paul. We learned about making the right choices, staying on the right path and not being tempted by others.
Thank you to everyone who came along to support Year 3 and 4 today. It was a lovely mass. The readers did an excellent job and the children sang their hearts out and were very respectful.
As part of our Design and Technology topic, we visited Morrisons to select our ingredients for our sandwiches. We had an interesting afternoon, finding out about seasonality of certain foods and budgeting so we didn’t overspend! We’re really looking forward to making our sandwiches tomorrow! Watch this space!
You are invited to Year Three and Four’s mass tomorrow. Mass will begin at 09:15AM. We hope to see you there!
We really enjoyed our Art lesson today. We learned all about primary, secondary and tertiary colours and which colours to mix to create the colours we needed for our colour wheels!
We had a fantastic time in Maths today! This week we’ve been working on measurement, focusing on measuring, comparing and adding and subtracting in grams and kilograms. Today’s focus was reading scales and following instructions. We worked together in small groups to read the recipe, collect and weigh the ingredients and mix it all together. Then we popped our cakes into the oven for fifteen minutes. Once they were cool, we decorated our cakes with icing and marshmallows. All of our cupcakes turned out perfectly and they were delicious!
