Lawrence has been travelling all around the UK visiting different schools, libraries and book fairs. His most popular book ‘Terror at the Sweet Shop’ is also currently being developed into a stage musical in London! He will be with the Y5+6 children tomorrow for an assembly and then selling books after. Please send any letters back to school tomorrow if you would like your child to receive a book from Lawrence.

Dear parents/carers,

Next Monday 4th October we will be celebrating St Francis of Assisi’s feast day. We will be doing some activities in the morning based on his life as well as having a little party. Please could your child bring with them some kind of nut-free snack to share- it could be popcorn, biscuits, sweets, crisps, fruit snacks etc. This willl be in the morning only so the children should still have their PE kit in school to change into in the afternoon.

Then, next Wednesday 6^th October we are going to be designing and making our own boats. Please could you send in any empty plastic bottles and egg cartons for your child to use.

1. We are due back at 3.15 and will release the children as usual from classrooms.
2. Please send your child with a bottle of water as it is supposed to be a hot day!
3. Ensure they have been covered with long-lasting sun cream and a hat.

On Thursday (10th June) we are going to Hearsall Common to have a picnic as a key phase. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch on this day or altenatively, the children can request a sandwich from school. We will be asking the children tomorrow about their choice.

Here are just some of the stories that the children in Year 2 have published this week. They have worked so hard to include exciting vocabulary in their adventure story and I have LOVED reading them all! I’m very proud of them and they should be too!

We finally managed to get to the Walled Garden today! First we listened to find out how to plant potatoes. We needed to space them out evenly and then cover them with soil. They will grow over the summer so we are really keen to check on them to see how they have grown! Then we planted them and covered them using a trowel.

Next, we walked around the garden looking at some of the other plants which have been planted there. There were tomatoes and turnips as well as lots more vegetables!

Miss Clarke thought it would be very cruel to take us to Allesley Park without having a play so we walked down to the park and had a short go on the swings and equipment. We had a great time!

Firstly I just wanted to say a huge thank you for sending in the plastic bottles and egg boxes! The children had a great afternoon designing, testing and evaluating their boats. Some were more effective than others but we talked about what we would do differently next time! Here are some pictures of our creations.
