As part of their learning during Lent, the children were challenged to raise money for CAFOD, a charity which helps overseas development. In Year 2 we have decided that on Monday 26th April the children will dress up as crazy scientists and then have an afternoon of Science experiments. We are asking the children to think of ideas to test out and hopefully have an afternoon of fun! For this to take place, we are encouraging the children to bring in a donation of £1, which will then be donated to CAFOD.

On Monday we will also be giving out new reading books. Please send back any books you still have at home as soon as possible. If you aren’t sure whether you still have some please email me- I have a list of children who haven’t returned them yet. We will be collecting books in on a Friday to quarantine them to send them back out on a Monday.

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Hello Year 2,
I hope you are having a nice weekend. Tomorrow at 9.45am we are going to be having our first live session which will be Maths based. Please could you make sure you have a pencil, your maths book and a copy of these shapes cut out ready to use. We will be using Google Classroom for the live session. The session will last around 20 minutes.

On Friday we are planning to have PJ day as well as watching Arthur Christmas in the afternoon. We thought it would be a nice idea for the children to bring in their favourite snack to eat during the movie e.g. sweets, chocolate, crisps, popcorn etc.
Thank you for all of your support this term and I hope you have a lovely Christmas!

Hi everyone,
I have sent/set 3 pieces of homework this weekend:
Hope you have a nice weekend.
Miss Clarke
Hi all,
Hopefully today (Friday 6th November) your child will have come home with 2 pieces of homework. One of these includes a log in for the website SPAG.com. They have a username and password, and once they have logged on, you will see a button saying ‘begin test’. Please could allow your child an opportunity to do this over the weekend. I will be using this website every week now as it allows me to see how they have got on with the task.
The other piece of homework is a look, cover and spell sheet with the days of the week on. These sheets do not need to be brought back into school but they will be tested on these spellings next Friday.
If you have any questions, please email me: [email protected].
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Miss Clarke
A huge thank you to Mrs Elkins who has helped the children in Year 2 create this beautiful mural on the fence in the forest school. The children have added their own mini beast to the fence which will hopefully be there for years to come. It has brightened up the forest school area and we can’t wait for the other year groups to see it!

This week in RE we learned about the Wedding of Cana. We learnt that Jesus gave instructions to people which they were surprised by, but they did it and a miracle happened. Then we thought about what Jesus is asking us to do. Here are some of the children’s responses.
Year 2 used their forest school slot this week to recap the things that they have learnt in the classroom. First, we went on a numbers hunt to find odd and even numbers.
Then we made 2D shapes out of sticks and stones. Do you recognise some of these shapes?
