Year 2 were using exclamation marks when they were writing sentences about Monsters Inc characters today. They did a great job!

As a stimulus for a Fantastic Mr Fox setting description later in the week, Year 2 used their forest school slot to collect green leaves which we then transferred onto thick paper.
We definitely used trial and error but by the end of the session, most children had made a fantastic looking tree!
We were back in the forest school for our maths lesson again today, this time showing number bonds to 10 using things we can find outside.
Some children even made a ‘+’ sign to show their calculation!
A huge thank you to Miss Piercy for setting up the times table challenge in the forest school. Y2 loved finding and completing the challenges from the 2, 5 and 10 times tables!
Today in Y2 we were making symmetrical patterns using leaves we found in the forest school area. We talked about how they must look the same on both sides so tried our best to find similar sized leaves and flowers.
With the weather turning wet and cold for the rest of the week, please could you ensure your child comes to school in a named waterproof coat so that we can carry on our learning outside!

This week we started our class text of Fantastic Mr Fox. This afternoon, we have drawn a picture of Mr Fox with some children choosing to imagine what Mrs Fox looks like too! Can you spot Mrs Fox in these pictures?
Miss Clarke and Mrs Elkins were feeling particularly mischievous today when they used a whiteboard pen to draw an addition sign on the tables! We were showing different ways to make 20 using dienes and we were all very excited by our teachers behaviour!

A huge thank you and well done to the boys who sent their work to me this week! Joseph has written me a letter about his half term, learnt about Pentecost, completed his spellings and maths work and created a fact file on Mary Seacole.
JJ has answered his reading questions, written a newspaper report about a wishing well, learnt about communities and finished some maths work!
Nicholas has completed some maths work, sent me a picture of his plant which is growing (well done!!) and sorted some materials. This is only some of the things he sent me- Well done!
Lovely to hear from you all again.
It was lovely to hear from JJ and Bartosz this week. I was really impressed with JJ’s story which is below. The phrase ‘stopped in horror’, his use of short sentences for effect and the ending all blew me away. Well done!
I really liked Bartosz’s list of how the Holy Spirit helps different people at school too. Well done boys, keep it up!
Year 2…it is finally our go! Emails have been sent out this evening with details about joining our zoom sessions tomorrow. There are 3 groups, so make sure you’re up and ready for it! Please make sure you have something to share like a picture, a piece of work or maybe a growing plant!
I can’t wait to see you all!
Miss Clarke
