All safe and well here! We have had a fun-filled night that has been jam packed with activities. We are all in bed now trying to rest up for tomorrow!
Year 5 have arrived safely at Alton Castle.
Let the fun commence!
As it stands, Alton Castle will be going ahead as planned on Monday. If the weather gets worse over the weekend, we will reassess, but let’s hope the weather forecast is right and it will be better by Monday!
Please ensure your child has lots of warm clothes. Hats and gloves are essential. I would reccomend more than one pair of gloves and lots of socks (in case they get wet).
Have a good weekend.
Year 5 have spent the week looking at formal letter writing in English. Today, we put everything we have learnt into practice and wrote letters to local businesses asking for their support for our Saint Patrick’s Coffee Morning.
The letters are all ready to be sent!
If your business is able to support us with providing raffle prizes for our coffee morning, please do not hesitate to contact me ([email protected]) or send any donations into school. In return for your kindness, we will mention your business in our programme on the day.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you to all the children (and parents!) for their efforts for World Book Day. You all look amazing!
We have taken part in lots of fun activities so far but we particularly enjoyed sharing a story with our friends in Nursery!
Our trip to Alton Castle is only four days away! Here is some last minute information and reminders about the trip:
- The weather is forecast to be extremely cold. Please ensure your child has lots of layers and warm clothes. Hats and gloves are essential. I would recommend bringing at least two pairs of gloves and lots of socks in case they get wet.
- If you have indicated that your child suffers from travel sickness on their medical form, please hand medication into the office. You will be asked to fill in a form to give us permission to administer the medication.
- If your child is bringing any other medication with them, a form needs to be filled in for this too. Please see the office.
- Children are to come to school in All Souls’ tracksuits on Monday.
- As children arrive at school on Monday morning, they should bring their luggage and sleeping bags (which must be clearly labelled) into the school hall.
- In addition to their sleeping bag, they may bring a blanket if they wish to due to the cold weather. No hot water bottles though please!
- Please ensure that every item of clothing is labelled with your child’s name.
- Any packed lunches for Monday should come in disposable packaging (so we have no lunch boxes left in school whilst we are away). Hot dinners will be as normal.
- The children will leave for Alton at approximately 2.00pm. You are more than welcome to come to school to wave goodbye as they set off on their great adventure!
- The maximum amount of money that your child should bring for the tuck shop is £8.00 This should be in a purse/safe container labelled with your child’s name and should be in change where possible. Please note that we cannot take responsibility for your child’s money.
- No electrical equipment of any description is permitted (mobile phones, digital cameras, hairdryers, straighteners etc.).
- The children will arrive at Alton at about 4 pm (depending on traffic). I will let the school office know and put it on the school website when we have arrived and settled.
- We will return at approximately 4pm on Wednesday. I will update the school/website if we are running late.
- I will try to update the website whilst we are there. However, please do understand that signal is limited and we will be very busy!
Thank you.

We would like to warmly invite all parents (of all year groups) to our St. Patrick’s Day Coffee morning which is taking place on Friday 16th March, from 9:15am-11:15am. The morning will be a chance to celebrate the day by getting together over a coffee and a cake and being entertained by music, the school choir and our very own Irish dancers. As is now tradition, you will be served your tea and coffee by our budding baristas in Year 5 and Giles Evans will be compering and singing for us!
Entrance to the event will cost £3 per person, which includes unlimited tea and coffee and a selection of cakes on each table. Additional cakes will also be on offer to purchase, either to eat at the event or to take home for later. Raffle tickets and Irish coffees will also be available for sale on the morning.
To make this morning a success, we are asking for your help in donating prizes for the raffle. If you have any unwanted gifts at home or are able to donate anything at all (chocolates, bottles etc.), please bring them into me at school at the earliest opportunity. If you have any contacts with local businesses who may be willing to help provide prizes, contacting them on our behalf would be much appreciated.
On the day itself, all children can come to school dressed up in the Irish colours. In return, we ask that the children bring in cakes that can be sold at the coffee morning. Due to the fact that getting hundreds of cakes ready on the morning is extremely hectic, this year, children are requested to bring these in on the days leading up to the event if at all possible please.
This event relies whole-heartedly on the generosity of our school community and is vital in raising funds for the school, so your support for this is very much appreciated- thank you in advance!
Miss Frearson
Year 5 showed off their painting skills this week by creating artwork of Hogwarts. They used their mixing and colour skills to make the sunset skyline and then they used stencils to create the silhouette of the Hogwarts Castle. Don’t they look fantastic?
In D and T, we made Rocky Roads! We followed a basic recipe but then added extra ingredients in accordance with our own designs. They were delicious!
