16 lucky children from Year 4,5 and 6 had the opportunity to take part in a Rugby Experience Day on Saturday thanks to Coventry Rugby Club. The children had a tour of the ground, met the players, performed the guard of honor and played a game at half time. They all had a fantastic time and and were great representatives of the school.

A very trying game against Christ the King. We started out brilliantly and scored 2 goals, matching Chris the King team two for two by the second quarter. Despite a few bumps and a skid from Julia, we were playing well and both teams were fighting hard. All Souls continued to put a lot of work in but unfortunatley Christ the King were getting through and getting the netball in the hoops more than we were. The team played very well together, and despite being pulled up quite a few times on minors; they kept their drive and determination right until the end.
We gave them a good fight and although losing 5 – 2, the team should hold their heads up high; for a tough game and keeping up the team spirit the whole way through.

Children in KS2 had a terrific time today as they tried fencing for the first time. Children learnt all aspects of the Olympic sport from being a fencing athlete to being an official referee. Safety was paramount throughout the day as they had to wear all the correct equipment before they were allowed to participate.
As the children were so keen and enjoyed it immensely there will hopefully be a new fencing club starting in the new year. Please keep an eye out on the clubs letters for this as there will be very limited spaces available.
On Tuesday the Y5/6 football team played their first game of the season against St Thomas More. It was a highly competitive game that ended 2 -2, a fair result on reflection.
The team started slowly and although they played some nice football saw themselves 2 nil down at half time.
After a quick pep talk the children reacted well and thanks to goals from Connor and Zach we were level at 2-2 just 2 minutes after the start of the second half. The game could then have gone either way with both sides having chances to win it late on.
Well played everyone it was a great game and a fantastic start to the season.

Year 6 have editing green screen videos today in preparation for their upcoming weekly vlogs. First 5 children filmed themselves telling their ‘best’ joke in front of the green screen. After this they had to import the file on their computer and then using video editing software remove the green screen. Finally they added a picture behind that matched the joke that was being told. Below is a selection of the final edits. Look back on here next week to see their first vlog of the year.
Year 5 have been using photo editing software to create a black and white images with the main subject of the photo left in colour. They had to first find a photo that had lots of bold colours in it so that the final image would stand out. After this, using photo editing software, they had to create a selection around the area that they wanted to leave in colour and then turn the rest of the photo black and white. The results look brilliant and children had a great time creating them.
Year 5 and 6 played Ultimate Frisbee today! They first experimented throwing the Frisbee in as many different ways as they could think of. After showing some of their creative ways of throwing the Frisbee they moved on to learning how to throw using the backhand technique – getting the correct hands, arms and stance. At the end of the lesson they used their new skill to play a modified version of Ultimate Frisbee. Next week they will be practicing their backhand again before learning how to throw using the forehand.
Currently there are not enough children to allow the holiday club to run throughout the summer. If you wish your child to attend then please return the form (available below) by no later than Thursday 13th July.
If by Thursday I still haven’t had enough interest then I will have to make the unfortunate decision to cancel. This is to allow those that have shown interest enough time and opportunity to find an alternative holiday club. If this is the case then I will inform everyone who has signed up on Thursday evening, you will then be able to collect your deposit via the school office after school on Friday 14th.
