Thankfully the weather held out for our sports day today and the children had a great time competing in both the novelty and sprint races.
Congratulations to everyone who took part (including the teachers and parents) and thanks to all the children, including three past students Issy, Sophie and Kelsey, who helped setup the obstacle courses and give out awards.
Aila from Year 5 took lots of photos throughout the afternoon (233 to be precise) so there are plenty for you to look at below.

We have just been out and inspected the field and although its very wet at the moment we hope it will dry out in time for sports day to go ahead.
Therefore as of now sports day will be going ahead starting at 1:30pm.
Year 5 cricket team had a great time at Corley Cricket Club today. They played some great cricket scoring lots of runs and taking plenty of wickets resulting in them finishing in fourth place. Well done! – next tournament is on Tuesday 20th June at The Standard Cricket Club.
Running club is cancelled this morning due to the weather.

Today Year 1 and 2 were learning to play TeeBall (a beginners version of rounders) in their P.E lessons. They were learning to catch, throw and hit the ball. Year 2 managed to move onto playing a quick game too. Next week they will be learning to hit the ball more accurately.
As of Monday 8th May there will be a rounders club for Y5/6 children after school from 3.15pm – 4.15pm costing £1 per week. If your child wishes to attend the club then please return the form attached to this weeks newsletter.
Some children from Year 3 started their digital art topic in Computing yesterday. Inspired by Mondrian, the children were given the task to create their own versions of his work using Microsoft Publisher. They used shapes to create lines and quadrilaterals, to which they had to colour and remove outlines in order to create the artwork. Some of the completed pieces are available to view below. The children who didn’t get chance to create their own Mondrian’s will be making one next week.
