Week Beginning 14/09/15

We have had a busy week in Year 3 this week. In Literacy we have started reading our class book James and the Giant Peach. We began by looking at the blurb and making some predictions and then moved on to creating some interesting character descriptions. Our next step was to re-create the opening paragraph using exciting adjectives. We have promised to start using more adventurous vocabulary in our writing.

In Numeracy we have followed on from learning about place value and we are now looking at column addition. We have used our knowledge of place value to help us with our addition.

We have also started our R.E unit, belonging, and looked at the ways we belong to God. We read the story of Jesus calling the 12 disciples and wrote our own diary entries as though we were one of the 12 disciples.

Our science topic Rocks has been very exciting this week and we have studied a variety of rocks and looked at the different features of them all. We also had the chance to use magnifying glasses to examine some fossils. We are really enjoying learning new things about rocks.

We enjoyed our P.E lesson this week on orienteering! We attempted to navigate our way around the playground using maps and number clues to help us. Some of us also had a go at creating our own orienteering map!

School Dinners – Important Notice

As from Monday 7th September, school dinners will cost £2.10. This is due to a price increase from the catering supplier, but we are sure you agree this is still excellent value.

School Online Payment System

All pupils should have received a letter today concerning All Souls’ school online payment system.

As a school, we are now using Agora online payments systems and so we encourage you to pay for your child’s school dinners, uniform and other school activities using this system.

The letter sent home today gave details of how to access the system and your unique reference to log in.

Please begin paying for your child’s school dinners this way as of today.

Uniform will be available to order online through Agora as of Monday 7th September. (Please note there are some changes to the prices of school uniform.)

Year 6 Leavers Assembly

This morning Y6 held their Leaver’s Assembly to parents, children and staff. We got to travel back in time (and 60 years in the future!) and look back at all of the children’s memories of All Souls. They treated us to songs, some ukulele and of course, some laughter and tears. We will miss the Y6 children so much but wish them all the luck in the world at their secondary school and can’t wait for them to visit us next year.The video of the assembly will be available later today – please check your emails for information on how to watch it.

Miss Prior’s and Mrs Fennell’s Leaving Assembly

This afternoon children and staff wished a fond farewell to Mrs Fennell and Miss Prior who are leaving All Souls this Summer. Each class presented cards to Mrs Fennell and Miss Prior and Reception class treated them to a song! We wish them both all the best in their new roles and hope they take a piece of All Souls with them, in their hearts.

New Reception Pupils Uniform

Parents of children starting Reception Class in September 2015, can collect their child’s uniform order from school as of Wednesday 15th July.

If your child is currently in Nursery, their uniform order will be in the classroom ready to collect.

If your child does not attend Nursery, please collect your uniform order from the school office.
