Charity Iron Run

Owen and Andy, both in Year 5, braved 3km of cargo nets, walls, swamps, A-frames, tunnels, water slides and lots of mud during the Iron Run Juniors event in Kettering.The pair were determined to finish the race to raise hundreds of pounds in memory of Jack.

Jack’s family started the charity ‘Jack’s Room’ to raise the money needed for University Hospital to provide a permanent room within the hospital to offer bereaved parents a private and quiet place to spend time with their child following his or her passing.

The boys had trained for months to prepare for the race held on May 2nd, spending every spare hour running, climbing, swimming, taking part in obstacle courses and doing extra sports.

All their hard work and effort paid off as they raised well over £500 for Jack’s Room.

Year 5 Websites

This term Year 5 are getting creative building their very own websites. Over the last few weeks they have learnt a lot of the basic skills needed to create a website using wix.com. Whilst learning these skills they have been creating a website all about their favourite hobbies, you can have a look at what some of them have built so far by clicking on the links below.

In the next couple of weeks the children will be creating a fact filled website all about a South American Country that they studied about earlier in the year. Make sure you come back to look at these to see how their skills have developed and you never know you might even learn something too!

Catholic Cross Country

On Wednesday 29th April All Souls Children, along with 10 other schools, took part in the first of two Catholic Cross Country events.

When we arrived everyone was initially daunted by what seemed a never ending course around Kersley Grange fields. They soon realised however that it wasn’t that far and they were used to running the distance so readied themselves for the race ahead.

The girls ran first and finished as a team in an excellent 4th place overall with our top 4 girls all finishing in 29th place or better. Orla was our best runner finishing in 8th place, followed by Roisin in 12th and an incredible run from Martha (Y4) saw her finish in 25th . Libby, who was only picked to run the day before due to an excellent run during a P.E lesson, finished in our final scoring position of 29th. Great race girls well done!

Having won this race last year the boys were looking to win the trophy for the second year running (mainly because Mr Youson forgot to get it engraved). The race was extremely close from the start however the boy’s all managed to get themselves into great positions. On the final bend there were around 10 boys all together, luckily we had 4 of them in the bunch an two more not far behind. Unfortunately, in what was a photo finish, none of the boy’s managed to get in the top three but as a team we had 4 top ten finishes with no one finishing below 18th place. This meant that as a team we scored just 27 points and won the trophy again, superb team performance boys you should be very proud.

Catholic Cross Country Winners

The Great Big Dance Off 2015

Y5 & 6 pupils who attend Street Dance Club took part in the West Midlands semi-final of The Great Big Dance Off, yesterday afternoon. The dancers travelled to Birmingham Town Hall where they performed a street dance medley. All Souls finished 5th in the competition but unfortunately didn’t make it through to the final. An amazing result nevertheless and I am super proud of them all!

Easter Bonnet Parade

This morning the children at All Souls took part in the first Easter Bonnet parade to be held at our school in a very long time. Everyone that took part obviously spent a long time and put great effort into making their hats and fascinators as they all looked eggcellent. We even had special guest judges in Mrs Cowley and Mrs Coulson who were very impressed with all the designs and found it extremely hard to pick a winner from each year group. Whilst the two of them were making their decision we had a debut performance from The Supreme Souls who sang and danced us through the break.
