An ‘incredible’ way to end the first half term

By Miss R Corkerry19th October 2018

After another busy week in Year One we decided to spend the afternoon having some down time. After performing our song “This little light of my mine’ to the whole school this morning in celebration of Black History Month the children voted for the film they would like to watch which was The Incredibles.

The reward afternoon was won after six weeks of brilliant behaviour, huge changes in attitudes to learning and a lot of hard work. The children have transitioned beautifully to life in Year One and I hope this continues into the next half term.

Here are the children enjoying their hot chocolate and popcorn

Thank you for all your support this half term. I hope you have a well rested and enjoyable week.

Many thanks

WOW! What a day!

By Miss R Corkerry15th October 2018

Year Four showed of their skills of teamwork, bravery and resilience today as they took on Rock UK. They were brilliantly behaved and represented the school well but more than this they were courageous and persistent when things got difficult.

They started off the morning with open canoeing down a natural river, the strong winds and constant rain didn’t make it easy but the children kept trying and worked together to get their boats moving as well as playing games which at one point included jumping inside the canoe but managed to stay afloat. It was in a simple game of boat-ball where anarchy descended and with two boats capsized, nine sodden children and a pair of wellies at the bottom of the river it was time to call it quits and head in to warm ourselves up and feed some very hungry children.

The afternoon came with a change of plan. The high winds and now heavy rain meant we could not use the outdoor climbing wall. However the children still took to dizzying heights as they took on the indoor walls with increasing difficulty. The children all harnessed up and got stuck in, they kept going and even when at times they missed a ledge or couldn’t reach, the sheer volume of their friends coaching them and cheering them on, saw them all succeed.

It was an absolute pleasure to be with the children today, their teamwork, resilience and support of one another really stood out, with the staff commenting on how well they worked as a team. Every single child gave it a go and even though at times they were scared they persevered. No wallflowers here. Well done Year Four – A wonderful day!

What a week!

By Miss R Corkerry5th October 2018

Well it has been a very busy week but the children have been brilliant! The week started off with a special visit and some absolutely beautiful art work with cotton buds not paint brushes! The children created their very own autumn trees and chose autumnal colours to show their falling leaves.

We continue to work on our fine motor skills and had some new activities to complete to help us with our handwriting and a new dough disco song too!

The chaplaincy team gave a beautiful reflective prayer service about the importance of being compassionate and living to others. The children behaved brilliantly.

Our week ended with the celebration of harvest where we dressed in our brightest colours. Thank you so much to all of you who donated food and money for CAFOD, it is very much appreciated.

We did need a bit of relaxation time as the week has been a hectic one so we ended the week with some down time in our classroom.

Thank you for your well wishes
Thankfully back and fighting fit!

Have a restful weekend

Brighten up for Harvest 2018

By Miss R Corkerry5th October 2018

What a wonderful celebration of harvest but also our wonderfully generous school community. We brightened up our school in our multi colours and brought our food donations as well as CAFOD donation with us. We took part in an assembly to allow the children to see where all their money goes to. We spoke about the importance of sharing the message of peace and not just giving our money but giving our prayers to others.

The chaplaincy team worked hard all day from bagging up all the donations, handing out prayer cards and counting our total amount raised. They also made a very special trip to the Coventry Food bank and got to walk around and see the different things that the foodbank needs as well as find out more about how we can help further.

The winners of the competition will be announced in the assembly on Monday.

The total raised so far stands at just over £190! So thank you very much!

Many thanks for all your donations, they are really appreciated.

Have a lovely weekend

A wonderfully windy week in Year One

By Miss R Corkerry21st September 2018

We have worked really hard on our number formation this week and some of us are really getting the hang of it! Forming letters correctly will be the focus next week.

We experienced the wonderful season of Autumn first hand with the incredible wind and intermittent showers with sunshine. We couldn’t let the opportunity go by, so we had some time outside. We decided to collect up and play in our fallen leaves as well as doing a rain dance or two.

In English we have started to write captions from our class book and some children have shown off their beautiful handwriting skills!

Another busy week in Year One!
Have a lovely and rested weekend

A week in Year One

By Miss R Corkerry14th September 2018

We have had a wonderful week in Year One with some very busy bees!

We started by having our launch day on Monday for our new learning area WEATHER WATCH. We explored different seasons and what we would expect to find during each season. In the afternoon we went out to explore the environment around us in the local area, we looked for clues that showed what season it was. We all decided it was definitely Autumn as we found conkers, acorns and fallen leaves.

We have danced our week away making our hand muscles strong and flexible skills during Playdough disco.

We have formed our numbers and practised writing capital letters for writing in lots of different ways and are really trying to work on writing these correctly.

We finished the week learning even more about Liberty bear and her adventures. She got up to mischief in the classroom making a jigsaw and has gone for her first weekend away!

Have a wonderful weekend!

All Souls Netball Team

By Miss R Corkerry20th July 2018

Huge congratulations to the All Souls Netball Team who achieved 2nd place in the City Cup. Just our luck that the rain would start just as the starting whistle blew but they all played incredibly and fought right to the end. Fantastic team work and they really done us proud. Well done!

Year Three Go WILD!

By Miss R Corkerry16th July 2018

WOW! What a lovely trip. Year Three visited Dudley Zoo today and what a wonderful end of year trip to finish a brilliant year. The children were incredibly well behaved as they always are and represented the school wonderfully. Despite the crowds of people and other schools we managed to pack a huge amount of walking, exploring and map-reading into a relatively short period of time.

Some of us came face to face with a tiger; saw the giraffes eating from the tree tops, monkeys monkeying around and some close encounters with lots of animals. The children had the chance to feed the Lorikeets, stroke the chinchillas, feed the meerkats and wave hello as well as ROAR at lots of different animals along the way. We even had the chance to watch a bird of prey display whilst eating our lunch!

The freedom of such a huge space was brilliant for the children who let off some steam by running around the various playgrounds and
adventure areas. Some very tired but content children on the journey back home, they’ll sleep well tonight.
