Another week has whizzed by!

Sorry for the delay in the post of the week for last week. The children had a really busy first week back after the half term break. We started off going to Lunt Fort and what an experience it was!! From freezing cold conditions to Roman fighting it was definitely an interesting experience! See some pictures below.

We braced then Arctic temperatures to do some practical maths outside for our new topic of shape. The children drew the 2D shapes and labelled them before rushing in to warm ourselves by the radiators.

We finished the week with world book Day and the children participated brilliantly with all the different activities and looked fantastic! Well done the Lola Ward and Ayda Molloy who won the painting competition and everyone else that participated. The children had the chance to share a story with children in year 2 it was lovely to see and hear them asking one another questions.

The last day of the week was a snowy one! Even though we were low on numbers then children partnered up to research our Author – David Walliams. The children worked really hard in their partner pairs and enjoyed some fun in the snow too!!

Another great netball match!

Another great netball game from the All Souls team, unfortunately we missed out by 1 but a fantastic come back and great team resilience. A game finishing at 10 to St Thomas Moore to 9 All Souls.

Congratulations to All Souls Netball Team

Congratulations to the All Souls Netball Team who won 5-2 against Spon Gate School today. The team played really well and worked hard to get the win.

Special well done to Aila who won player of the match and Olivia after playing so well in her first Netball Match!

Our Roman Adventure

Thank you to the year three parents for your support towards our trip to Lunt Fort. Despite being an extremely cold day the children were troopers and stated engaged and participating throughout. The centre staff commented on how well they behaved and asked that we pass this on to their parents.
The children learnt an awful lot during their time and I think one of the highlights had some to be the final battle as their initiation into the Roman Army. Please see some of the photos and videos below.

Well done to the children for such beautiful behaviour despite the temperature.

Year Three Trip to Lunt Fort 26/02/18

Can all YEAR THREE PARENTS remember to send their child to school tomorrow in warm, waterproof clothes and a packed lunch. Children MUST be in full school uniform but can wear comfortable sensible outdoor shoes. It has been very cold the past week and it isn’t due to be any warmer tomorrow (-4 up to 2 degrees), as a large part of the day tomorrow will be spent outside, please ensure that your child is adequately dressed for this.

Congratulations to the Netball Team

A huge well done to the Netball team who had 2 successful wins this week.
The first game against Holy Family was a 15 – 3 win. The second was a cup match against Corpus Christi which was won 9 – 0. The children played brilliantly in both games and worked as a team to win both matches. They done their parents and All Souls proud.

The next cup match will be played after Half term against Saint Thomas Moore.

E-Safety Jigsaw

As E-Safety week draws to a close the year three class took part in an activity to get them to think about everything they had learnt. We chose one danger of the internet to create a design for a puzzle piece. We thought about how these pieces of the puzzle it together to give us a full view of the fun parts and dangers of the internet. Year Three decided that these dangers need to be shared with other year groups to make everyone aware so have promised to spread the word of internet safety beyond the work in our classroom. Ask your child why it is important to be safe on the internet and hear their well thought out and insightful views.

As part of our e- safety week year three have started by deciding who their protective adults are, who they can trust if they are ever worried or upset. We made promises to always tell these people if we get that funny feeling in our tummy that tells us something isn’t right.

We then looked at how we are all connected in things we enjoy and places we visit online. We created a spider web showing how we are all linked even if in school we don’t have much in common.

Finally we took a brief look at our digital footprint, learning that everything we do online can be traced back to us and how we need to be careful where we are walking with our digital feet and what we may be leaving behind.

A week of wonderful writing

This week year three showed off their incredible imagination and writing skills as they took persuasive techniques to the next level. They started by looking at the features of a letter and then got into the mind set of Joe Spud – the Billionaire Boy to persuade year three to become his friend. They used all the techniques they have learnt so far and produced some amazing letters.

We had fun in science learning all about our bones and how our skeletons help us in three different ways. Ask your children and see if they can remember these functions.

We finished off the week working on our weaving skill. We were a little rusty to start with but I was impressed with the determination the children put into it and they succeeded. We will complete these in the week.
