Week Three of Home Learning *Year One*

A huge thank you to Ross, Lauren, Emily, Grace and Phoebe who have started the week with some fantastic work. Maths, handwriting, science and RE.

Well done to Emily who has learnt to rise her bike without stabilisers! A fantastic achievement.

Grace shared in a beautiful last supper with her sisters to remember the story of Jesus on Maundy Thursday.

Evie worked on her skills as an architect and designed this brilliant suspension bridge. It took a while to make but once it was finished it held over 2kg in weight. Well done Evie!

Olivia developed her talents in construction when making her Bridge. She built a very strong bridge that was so strong it could hold her own weight! Olivia also set up her own last supper and invited some of her friends to share in this special event.

Ross has continued to work hard on his RE work surrounding Holy Week. He is enjoying reading the stories and finding out why this time is so special. He has also looked at the final hours that Jesus spent here with his friends.

Hosanna!

The very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and strewed them on the road.

The crowds preceding him and those following kept crying out and saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David;
blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord;hosanna in the highest.”
Matthew 21:1-11

Today is the beginning of Holy Week, the most special week in the Church’s calendar. We remember and follow the way of the cross, the journey Jesus took in his final days here on Earth. As we move through this week together it is important to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us and reflect on what we can do to make sure we are valuing this sacrifice.

The story of Palm Sunday tells of how
people removed their cloaks and spread them out in front of Jesus as he entered Jerusalem on a donkey. From humble beginnings, born in a manger in Bethlehem to a King recognised by the people.

Everyday we wear our cloaks to face the world sometimes our cloaks hide who we actually are, the things that we say or the actions that we take. As we come to worship may we lay down our cloaks and disguises, at the feet of the One who sees us we really are, Jesus. May we offer our thanks and praises to Him with open hearts, truthful words and joyful thoughts.

Take some time today on your own or as a family to reflect on this and see if you can live stream a mass either locally or internationally to celebrate this day with our Catholic community.

Hard work from Abbie, Emily and Grace

A lovely email and pictures from Abbie today showing the wonderful work she has been completing over the past few days. Abbie has worked hard on her maths and has asked Jesus some questions from the story of Jesus and the children. She has also recalled out work on instructions and has written some instructions to an alien for making a sandwich. Well done Abbie!

Emily has also been working hard and has completed her maths, science and RE this week. She has also created an informative and creative poster all about staying safe in the sun. Emily is working really hard on her cursive writing and it definitely shows. Well done!

Grace and her sisters started their Friday with some PE and completed it in fancy dress! Keep working hard girls!

Thank you to Jessica and Grace for sending these wonderful pictures in showing their hard work over the past few days. They have completed some beautiful writing for their reading comprehension and looked at staying safe in the sun. Jessica has showed her skills of baking and decorating with big brother Liam whilst Grace has been busy building a bridge with street lights and a tunnel!

A bit of Spiritual Strength

The diocese have joined with One Life Music to provide weekly reflections and prayer time. It is a wonderful way to bring us together as one community and one family in Christ.

Terrific Times Tables

Change in Year One Coded work

Sorry for the confusion this week with the coded work for the children. This has now been updated.

As always the children are more than welcome to try all the tasks if they wish to, but their directed work codes have now been updated if they only want to complete their own one.

A Spring Inspired Building

Working Weekends
