We are the champions!

By Sarah Scofield2nd July 2021

Hi Everyone,

The Nursery were absolute superstars this morning for their Sport’s Day. We did a novelty race with cups and saucers and teddy bears and then sprinting races. The children did so well and I was very impressed that they managed to stay in their own running lanes (more or less!). Mr Youson will put videos of our running races on the school website. Unfortunately our Nursery wedding has had to be postoned until Friday 16th July so will shall also make this our end of term party, so dust down those party outfits! Have a great weekend!

Hello Everyone,

We had a wonderful time at the zoo on Monday, the rain stayed away and the children were brillaint. We saw lots of differnt animals including, giraffes, tigers.leopards, rhinos and chimpanzees. There were a lot of tired and sleepy children on the coach at the end of the day. Next week is a busy week –  in R.E we will be talking about special celebrations, including weddings and the following week we will have a mock wedding in Nursery so dust down those party clothes! We have been practising lots of songs in Nursery because on Thursday we are walking over to the church with Reception class to sing to the dementia group which should be a lovely experience for the group and for the children. On Friday the children will have a ‘sports day’ with Reception class, so we will be practising running and relay races. It is such a shame that parents will not be able to participate,so the races will be filmed and put on the website. Have a good weekend everyone!

R-O-A-R!!

By Sarah Scofield14th June 2021

Hello Everyone,

We had a very exciting week in Nursery last week with some unexpected visitors turning up. Mr Gale our site manager found a huge next with two very large eggs inside. The children thought they might be ostrich, peacock, unicorn, dragon or dinosaur eggs. Some children said they saw a big foot print on the field and we found a feather which we thought could belong to the mother. We had to wait till Friday to find out who the eggs belonged to  – a T-Rex! The Nursery children were very brave and they had great fun with the dinosaur and we were lucky enough to meet two baby dinosaurs in our Nursery. Don’t forget that next Monday we have our trip to Twycross zoo so lets hope the weather stays fine.

The Nursery Team

I wonder who layed these eggs?

Does this feather belong to the mother?

We saw a big foot print on the field!

I hope he’s not too hungry!

He loves a tickle under the chin.

Rain, rain go away!

By Sarah Scofield21st May 2021

Hello Everyone,

What another rainy week we have had! Luckily the rain stayed away for us on Thursday morning so we had a nice dry walk over to the church. The children were so excited about going to our church to role play baptising Baby Grace. Father Paul met us at the church so we were able to present him with our card we had made,  to say that we had been praying for the sick people in our community. We dressed Baby Grace in her beautiful white baptism dress and wrapped her in a white shawl to keep her warm. Cara and Stanley were great parents and Lilah and Lachlan were very responsible God Parents. It was lovely to see how in awe the children were to be inside the church and to look at the stained glass windows and statues – we were also very proud of how sensilble and respectful the children were. When we got back to Nursery we had a party to celebrate. Fingers crossed for some sunshine next week.

Hello Everyone,

Despite the relentless rain this week we have still been able to get outside and we have been busy planting lots of flowers and plants – each child in Nursery have been given their own pot to care and look after. The children are very excited about the caterpillars – they have grown huge and are ready to turn into chrysalids. We have made some beautiful symmetrical butterfly prints and the children have worked on our ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ maths display. We are also very excited that we are going on a trip to Twycross Zoo on 21st June, this will be such a great learning experience for the children so it would be wonderful if all the children are able to go. Have a good weekend!

Very Hungry Caterpillars

By Sarah Scofield7th May 2021

Hello Everyone,

We have been fascinated to see our caterpillars grow from tiny caterbillars to big fat caterpillars so we are waiting in anticipation for them to turn into chrysalis. The children have made playdough caterpillars, printed caterpillars using a repeating pattern and we have been drawing what The Very Hungry Caterpillar ate each day for our maths display. We have also been learning about Baptism this week and talking about how water is used and that we are given our special name – thank you so much for sending in photos and artefacts from your child’s Baptism. Next week we will be focussing on butterflies and we will also be doing some more planting, so fingers crossed the weather will be kind to us.Have a good weekend.

Spring has sprung!

By Sarah Scofield23rd April 2021

Hello Everyone,

Happy St.Georges day! What wonderful weather we have been enjoyng this week, so we have been doing most of our learning outside. The children have been very excited to use our outside area – we have put out the climbing frame and mud kitchen with the addition of sawn off logs to provide seating/stepping stones. We had a new arrival in Nursery this morning – tiny caterpillars which we are going to look after and watch turn into butterflies, so our theme for the next couple of weeks is going to be ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ which should be lots of fun.The children looked great in their red, white and blue today – we learnt about St.George, made England flags, watched ‘Zog’ and coloured dragons. Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy the sunshine!

Happy Easter!

By Sarah Scofield1st April 2021

This week we have enjoyed making Easter cards, making and decorating Easter egg biscuits and making chocolates. The Easter Bunny paid a visit last night and left us chocolate eggs to find outside which we were very excited about looking for. A BIG,BIG THANK YOU to all of you and your children – Nursery raised £124 for CAFOD! We are super proud of our children and they are extremely proud of themselves for being so helpful at home – well done! Finally, have a great Easter and we will see you back at Nursery on Monday 19th April.

One potato, two potato

By Sarah Scofield26th March 2021

Hello Everyone,

Despite the rain we were able to get out this morning to plant our potato seedlings which the children are very excited about watching grow, dig up, cook and eat. On Monday the children made their own sandwich for snack time using the cress we have been growing in Nursery. The children have also made some beautiful chicks, painted and drawn daffodils and made Easter cards. Next week we will be making Easter bicuits and chocolates and hopefully The Easter Bunny will be making a visit and leaving eggs for an Easter egg hunt. Thank you to all of you who have sent donations in for CAFOD – there is still time to send in slips saying how the children have been helping at home along with any donations. Remember next week our last day in Nursery is Thursday. Have a good weekend everyone.

Hello Everyone,

This week we have planted our broad beans and have been doing lots of measuring activities. The children also looked wonderful on Wednesday, dressed up in green for St.Patrick’s Day. Thank you to the children and parents who have sent in their envelopes for CAFOD and telling us what jobs they have done at home to help – the children have been really proud of the things they have done. It would be great if everybody could return their envelopes by the end of next week and we can celebrate what everybody has been doing to help out at home. As well as doing Easter activities, next week we will be making sandwiches with some of the cress we have grown and we will also be planting potatoes. Have a good weekend Everyone.
