Zooming into November

Hello Everyone,

We have had a great week back in Nursery and luckily we have had some beautiful sunny days for learning outside. Activities we have been doing this week are; leaf printing, sorting Autumn objects, matching objects including pairs of socks and describing why they match, cutting out shapes to make rockets, colouring rockets and making firework noises. In R.E we have been thinking about people who care for us and the children have done some lovely pictures of their family members. In phonics this week we have been learning the letter sound (phoneme) ‘s’ and thinking about names and words that begin with this sound. Our phoneme next week will be ‘a’. On Monday we were also lucky to have a special cake for All Souls’ Day. We celebrated three birthdays this week for Leo, Freddie and Anaya, whose birthdays were during half term – HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Next week we will be doing activities based around Diwali. Have a good weekend.

We love sandwiches!

Hello Everyone,

I can’t believe its half term – where has the time gone?! Carrying on from reading ‘Bears Don’t Eat Egg Sandwiches’, we carried out a survey to find out who did or didn’t like egg sandwiches and then we found out what our favourite sandwiches were. The children loved making their own sandwich today and of course the best part was eating them at snack time! (Because we have lots of allergies /intolerances/dietary requirements, we used vegetable spread and not butter.) On our first day back after half term it is non-school uniform day to celebrate All Soul’s Day – so the children can come to Nursery wearing their normal clothes. Enjoy your half term break everyone!

Hello Everyone,

We have been going bonkers with conkers this week! The children have made some lovely collages with our Autumn collections and they have been great for counting activities too. We have also enjoyed doing lots of fine motor skills activities such as making dots with paint and cotton buds. Our favourite story this week has been ‘Bears Don’t Eat Egg Sandwiches!’ which the children loved joining in with, so next week we will be doing a survey with the children to find out what their favourite sandwiches are and then we will be making and devouring them. Finally, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Savannah, who is four years old today! Have a good weekend.

A Wonderful Wellie Walk

Hello Everyone,

We had a beautiful morning for our wellie walk today. It was cold but sunny so we wrapped up well and headed out to explore our forest area and the school fields which most of the children hadn’t visited before. Great fun was had collecting leaves, twigs, acorns and apples as well as having a good squelch in the mud and then playing on the tyres. The children looked lovely and bright in their clothes this morning and we have to say a great big thank you for all the packets and tins you all sent in. Also, thank you for the beautiful conkers and Autumn objects you have sent in – we have plenty for counting, making patterns and collages next week. We look forward to talking to you next week about how your child has settled in. Have a good weekend!

Thank you and goodbye!

Hello Everyone,

Well what can I say, apart from its been a highly unusual year. Both myself and Mrs McCloskey have been so sad that we didn’t get to continue to watch your children grow and develop and get them ready to fly off into Reception. It was wonderful seeing so many of you last week and if we missed you, we will see you all again in September. Thank you for all of your support this year, take care, stay safe and have a good Summer.

Farewell Nursery!

Hello Everyone!

I hope you have all been keeping safe and well. Myself and Mrs McCloskey have been having a sort out in Nursery and we would like to return items from P.E boxes and the lovely ‘All about Me’ posters as well as a few other things we have put together for the children. We would like to drop these things off to the children on Thursday this week (9th July) so don’t be alarmed if we turn up on your doorstep to make a delivery and to say a quick hello. Don’t worry if you are planning to go out or you won’t be in – we will leave your things by your door or in a safe place. If your child is attending All Sorts or Key Worker groups at the moment we will pop our head around the door to say hello and to pass things on. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Nursery Work

I am really proud of the work that Ollie sent me and I know that Ollie and his mum are super proud too. He went into the garden and did these wonderful pictures of his family all by himself. Mum spelt out the words for him and Ollie wrote them  – amazing!
