The children are doing well settling into school life and we are very pleased with them. We have however had a few toilet accidents. This is often when children have been playing and left it a little too late. This is not a problem but could we ask that you place a spare pair of pants, socks and a skirt or trousers in your child’s P.E. box so that they can have their own clothes on. Thank you for your support in this.
In our RE lesson this week the children acted out the story of the feeding of the five thousand. After this they wrote the story and illustrated their work. In mathematics we have been problem solving and this has proved a little tricky, we will be continuing this next week.
Thank you for the photographs and heights of the sunflowers we are looking at them over the weekend and will decide a winner on Monday.
We have a busy week ahead with leaving assemblies, award ceremonies and Mass and ending with a party on Friday. The children are invited to wear a costume that makes them look like a toy for our toys party. They can bring in a favourite toy but please no electronic toys that may be damaged.
.
This week we have been busy exploring jigsaws. We had a visit from an Alien called Zog who had never seen a jigsaw before. The children had to tell him how to put it together and they found out how tricky it is to give instructions! They then designed and made their own jigsaw. In mathematics we have been recapping addition and subtraction and looking at 3d shapes.
This week we are going to be looking at teddy bears of different shapes and sizes. On Friday we are going to have a Teddy Bears picnic. Please would you send a teddy into school on Friday morning. We will send out a reminder letter later in the week.
Thank you for the old toys and photographs you have sent in this week, the children have enjoy talking about their parents toys.
We had a very busy week making cards and book marks for our superhero dads. On Friday we enjoyed sharing lunchtime with our dads even if it was inside due to the weather.
We have also been exploring mathematical problems and writing stories. We are praying for our brothers and sisters ready for their special day next week. We also made a cup and ball toy like we played with at the Black Country Museum. This week we are looking further at how the toys have changed over time and are looking forward to finding out which toys were your favourite. It would be great if you could send in a picture of your toy,
Despite the weather we had a great day at the Black Country Museum. The children were extremely well behaved and really enjoyed the visit. We found out a lot about toys of the past and we will be continuing this work in the classroom. Below are some of the photographs of the day and we will put some more in your child’s book.
After Half Term we are going to be looking at Superheroes. We are having a Superhero Headquarters in the classroom and have started to build and draw our own superheroes.
On Sunday our prayer friends will be at church for their Confirmation, it would be good to see as many children as possible supporting their friend.
When we start back on Tuesday, the children will walk around the playground in the morning on their own. The will be staff on the playground to support them. Please could you supply them with a water bottle because they will be having a morning break with the other children.
We would like to wish you all an enjoyable break with your families.
