Assessment week

We had a very busy week when the children were showing us their skills and knowledge. We now have a great starting point to take the childrens learning forward from.

We held our first prayer services in the classroom and we were very pleased with how well the children sat and also how they joined in with our song “I love the sun”. They were very good at naming some of the things around us that God created.

This week we will be exploring shapes, starting to practise handwriting/fine motor skills and making up some class rules.

In between our hard work last week we did have some fun! The following photographs show some of our activities. We look forward to meeting you all again on parents evening.

End of the first week

We have made it to the end of the first week! The children have done very well with only a few tears. They are beginning to understand the routines and we appreciate your support whilst we are busy settling them in. Could we please have a photograph of mum for our RE display. We have been learning about Mary and the children have been busy drawing their special mums .

We are going to be doing some planting outside and would welcome any donations of autumn/winter plants. Thank you, have a good weekend.

First Day

The children settled really well. We were very pleased with them all. Below are a few photographs of the day.We talked about the different colours in the Nursery, had a story about the Gingerbread Man and sang some songs.

Around the world ninety minutes!

We had a wonderful end to the year with our ‘Across the World’ party. The children looked fantastic and we enjoyed eating food from around the world. Below we have included some photographs of the day.

Transition

We are continuing with the transition mornings on Thursday. The children are really enjoying this and below are some photographs of their time in Reception.

Well done to all children who took part in our foundation assembly. We learnt alot about the creatures that live in the sea. The penguins sang and danced excellently.

Belgrade Musical Evening

The choir took part in the Coventry schools’ musical showcase on Thursday evening. They were great as usual and exceptionally well behaved. They performed a small selection of the songs from their performance at the Royal Albert Hall. Well done to all who took part and thank you parents for supporting them.

First we went backstage to practise singing with the other schools.

Then we performed on the large stage. Everyone said they really enjoyed taking part.

All Souls choir started off the rounds and Dylan played the chime bars.

Thank you to Mrs Ellis, Ms Croarken and Mrs Elkins for all their time and energy. This has helped raise the standard of our choir and enabled them to experience events such as this.

Moving On

We started the transition today into the Reception Class. The children went next door to meet Mrs Atwal and explore the environment. They had a great time and came back to tell us all about the new classroom. They are very excited about visiting again next week. Below are some photographs of their morning. We will post some more pictures next week. Tomorrow we are all looking forward to the sponsored bounce. Happy Fathers Day.

Sealife Centre

Nursery have had great fun a the Sealife Centre today. Below are some of the highlights.

We had a guided tour to start our day and the guide said that the children were very well behaved. Well done everyone.

We saw lots of sea creatures, made string rays and played in the soft play area but I think this was the best part of the day for the children!

Thank you to all our parent helpers, we really couldn’t do these trips without you. We hope you all have a lovely half term. Nursery Staff

All in one Week!

We have been practising matching numeral to quantity.

Some of us have been writing numbers.

Travis is really good at counting and enjoys having his photograph taken to prove it!

We have been drawing sea creatures for our Under the Sea display.

Some of us have been busy practising our fine motor skills. It is quite tricky to pick up the small pegs!

Cake anyone? We have enjoyed making cakes in the mud kitchen.

We are focusing on listening too and answering questions. Jarvis was very pleased with himself when he got the question correct.

And we are making sure our nursery planter is being kept watered and weed free.

A quick reminder that we will be on our trip on Thursday and there is no school on Friday due to Teacher training day. Have a good weekend.

Nursery news

The children enjoyed drawing lines on the walls in the Under the Sea area. This was good practise holding pens and mark making and good fun. We did tell them you can only write on this wall not any they have at home!

We have also been using our fine motor skills to make picutres using hammers and pins.

The children have been working hard planting, writing numbers, discovering under the sea and practising fine motor skills.

Some of the children have been practising writing numbers and others recognising numbers and counting and matching.

We now have a planter on the school playground that we have planted and will be looking after. The children enjoy watering and weeding, Im sure when you are waiting for brothers and sisters they will enjoy showing you our planter.

We have started to practise for our assembly when we will be sharing our learning with you and singing new songs.

Thank you for your support helping your child to remember their phonic sounds and finding objects to bring in, this really helps the children to consolidate their learning. We look forward to a busy week ahead.
