Thank you

By Mrs S JILKS8th May 2016

We would like to say thank you for the flowers that have been donated, the children have enjoyed looking after them. We would still welcome any more plants that you have spare for our Nursery Garden.

DSCN2818

This week we have been working hard recognising numbers to 20. Some of us are nearly there, numbers 12 , 13 and 15 are proving a little tricky but we will keep practising.

Our tadpoles are growing fast but still no sign of legs, we are sure that the children will tell you when we spot some!.  Thank you for completing the forms for our trip to the Sealife centre, we are all really looking forward to the trip.   Next week we are making under the sea creatures for our Sealife area and concentrating on listening and recalling in our phonics and literacy sessions. Group 2 will be learning ‘g’ and ‘o’ phonemes.  .

Climbing, jumping and planting outdoors.

By Mrs S JILKS1st May 2016

The girls showed no fear climbing over the frame. They were able to jump off the other side.

DSCN2808

This is easy!

DSCN2778We have been making the most of the good weather again (in between the showers!)  this week.  The children have been having great fun climbing over, under and through the climbing frame.  We have been practising jumping and landing safely.   We have also been planting flowers and the  children have enjoyed looking after them by watering them.DSCN2812DSCN2814

Can we ask that you start to think about providing sun cream and hats ready for the warmer weather.  These can be left in your child’s PE box.  Thank you.

Travel plans

We have been making the most of the sunshine and spending time in the outdoor area.  We have begun to plant in the tubs and troughs.  Any donations of spare plants would be gratefully received.

We have started spliting the phonic groups and are very pleased with both groups.  Mrs McCloskey said her group were doing some fantastic listening and the other group are beginning to recognise and write some phonemes.  Below are some photographs showing the groups first attempts at writing.

New term, New life

By Mrs S JILKS14th April 2016

Welcome back.  This half term we are looking at life cycles of different animals.  We have some tadpoles outdoors and the children have enjoyed watching them swim.  We are also doing some planting of seeds and plants so that the childern can help look after them.   We have been making frogs and doing observational drawings of daffodils.  Below are a few photographs of our week.DSCN2687 DSCN2688 DSCN2689  DSCN2691 DSCN2692 DSCN2693 DSCN2694   DSCN2697 DSCN2698 DSCN2699 DSCN2700 DSCN2701 DSCN2702 DSCN2703 DSCN2704 DSCN2705 DSCN2706 DSCN2707 DSCN2708  DSCN2710 DSCN2711  DSCN2713 DSCN2714

Easter fun

By Mrs S JILKS24th March 2016

We have been celebrating Easter in lots of interesting ways.  We held a prayer service in the Nursery and listened to the story of Holy week.  The children all listened well and were able to retell some of the story.

We were very pleased to see how many children made a hat to show the other children in the Easter Hat parade.  Thank you parents for your time and hard work helping the children make such great hats.  When we went back to class after the Easter Hat parade we had a very exciting letter from the Easter Bunny telling us that he had hidden some eggs in our outdoor area.  We went outside and found lots of eggs and then looked at the numbers on them.  We named them and looked at which number was the biggest.    Below are a few photographs of our day.

St Patrick’s Day

By Mrs S JILKS17th March 2016

The children enjoyed celebrating St Patrick’s Day in the Nursery. We listened to the story of St Patrick, found out about why we made shamrock badges, danced with the Riverdance group (following the DVD)  and shared cakes.  Thank you for supporting us and letting the children wear green for a donation, they all looked great.  Below are a few photographs from the day.DSCN2610DSCN2611DSCN2609 DSCN2607 DSCN2584 DSCN2597  DSCN2599    DSCN2594 DSCN2581 .

Book week

By Mrs S JILKS6th March 2016

Thank you for helping your child dress as a character from a favourite book.  The children all looked great (can’t say the same for the staff!) .  We hope that you enjoy sharing the book pack with your child, early reading ensures a love of books. The children have been busy making models and props for role play using the construction materials.   Below are some photographs of the things they made.DSCN2445DSCN2450DSCN2448DSCN2446DSCN2449 We hope you enjoyed Mothers Day and were spoilt by your families.  The children enjoyed making your cards and present.

First Week Spring 2

By Mrs S JILKS28th February 2016

We have been concentrating on shape recognisition this week, the children were all able to select a named shape.  We were very pleased with them.  We have been working on a surprise for Mother’s Day that we are sure you will like.  Hopefully the children will be able to keep it a secret for the rest of the week.

On Thursday we will be dressing up for World Book Day, the children can choose a favourite character to dress as.  They have also been asked to bring in their favourite story book to share with the other children.   This is a very good way of getting the children to describe the settings and characters in books.

On Friday we will be selling the toys the children have bought in to raise money for Lent.  Thank you for your support in this.
