Year 4’s World Book Day!

We’ve had a great time celebrating World Book Day in Year 4.

Thank you to all the children and families for their efforts in dressing up as favourite book characters – we were joined by heroes, villains and characters from many classic tales.


Through the day, we were challenged to create a 100 word story based on finding a mysterious key. Check back tomorrow to find out our winner and take a read of their piece of work.

Year 4’s Internet Safety Day

Today Year 4 have learnt about how to responsibly use the internet for playing games with others. Here are a few of their top tips when gaming online.

An afternoon of art

This afternoon, Year 4 worked on our key artist Hokusai by studying his famous work – Great Wave off Kanogawa.

We worked on blended paint backgrounds for collage pieces.

We also tried out suminagashi, by floating ink on water and dipping paper through it.

Finally, we worked on the design of our collages with a range of textured materials.

What’s the password?

To finish off our unit of Sound in Science lessons, today Year 4 had their hearing tested.

Half of the class created a set of secret words for the other half to listen to at different distances so we could decide how distance affects sound.


Some words were trickier to hear than others, but most of us could hear clearly up to around 30/40 metres away.

Year 4 at Lunt Roman Fort

Year 4 are at Lunt Roman Fort today (Friday 26th November). Please ensure children are dressed in their outdoor PE kit and have suitable clothing to keep dry and warm. Waterproof coats, hats, gloves and wellies or walking boots are all recommended.

Please also make sure children have a lunch ready in a disposable bag.

We look forward to an excellent day and will be back in time for normal collection.

Wait a minute, Mr Postman!

Year 4 have worked hard through the week to create letters full of news from our first term of school.

Today we took our letters and delivered them to a post box, ready to be sent out.

Year 4 at Coombe Abbey

On Monday the 8th October, Year 4 will be visiting Coombe Abbey to complete as many of our All Souls’ 101 Pledge challenges as possible.

Please make sure children are dressed in their PE kit with jogging bottoms and track suit top to stay warm throughout the day. Children should also bring a waterproof coat. Hats and gloves would be recommended. Please also make sure children are wearing suitable footwear: wellies, walking boots or old trainers that are able to get muddy.

Those children who are not eligible for free school meals should take a packed lunch in a disposable bag with their initials on and a water bottle.

Mixing and matching

Year 4 Water Fight

Tomorrow (Monday 19th) afternoon, Year 4 children will be taking part in a water fight on our school field to beat the summer sun.

Children can bring a small towel to help dry off, but will not require a change of clothes. Children do not need to bring any water pistols with them to school – these will be provided.

 

See you tomorrow (and start thinking of tactics!).
