A very mysterious morning in Year One. The children arrived this morning to a crime scene. They quickly got to work trying to find clues to discover who had caused such a mess! They worked together to try and explain this odd scene but with no witnesses or CCTV evidence the mystery continues.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring…

A lovely start to our Lenten journey.
This afternoon every child came together in a whole school prayer service. We wrote how we were going to follow in Jesusā footsteps. We also thought about the sacrifice Jesus made for us and the special people we want to pray for throughout Lent.
An exhausting but exciting week in Year One this week! We started by continuing our work on measure. We began looking at weigh and mass and comparing these different weights. We were shocked to find out that sometimes just because the quantity of an object is more doesnāt mean that it weighs more.
It was Shrove Tuesday this week and to celebrate we had pancakes with an array of different toppings. Despite being disturbed by the fire alarm (Thanks to Mrs Jilks) the children enjoyed the pancakes and began to talk about what we were going to go without during Lent.
On Wednesday we had our Ash Wednesday mass and the children were fantastic! It was a bit longer than our normal mass but we got ashes placed on our head. We had a very special prayer service where we locked away the special word and decided who our special intentions would be during Lent.
We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday and the children all looked wonderful in their costumes. The children had the chance to go and share a book with different teachers and mixed classes where they completed different tasks. The children also completed a huge collaborative colouring project for WBD that we are hoping to put display once weāve found the right space for it.
Today we spent the morning making cakes using the skills we had learnt in maths this week. The children had different ingredients in bags and they had to weigh the correct amount that the ingredients told them. The children were great and could even use a measuring jug to get to 450ml. We had our fingers crossed that we had got the measurements right so we could eat the yummy cakes in the afternoon.
A great week! If any outstanding Mummy and me pictures could be in by next Friday that would be great.
Have a lovely weekend!
We arrived back this morning to find Liberty Bear with a letter! She told us all about her adventures of Half Term, she even bought us some Irish treats to try! What an exciting start to the week.

The Year One class assembly has been moved from the 12th March to Friday 29th March at 9.15am. All welcome.
Year One took their artistic skills outside the classroom and worked together to make a masterpiece in the style of Jackson Pollock. The rain then started but instead of heading back inside the children noticed the patterns the rain started to make and watched as the paint began to run. A lovely way to end our afternoon!

Year One were beyond excited as they arrived at school today to see the playground was covered in untouched snow! We decided to brace the cold and wrap up to enjoy the frosty start to our Wednesday. We made snow angels and felt the snow melt on our hands, the children very quickly realised that unfortunately we didnāt; have enough to make a snowman together so instead took to seeing who could make the biggest wings.
The children wrote their names in the snow but the excitement hit a whole other level when they discovered the footprints… We were so excited to find out who the footprints belonged to. The children narrowed it down to 3 culprits. A fox, a cat or a dog? The dog was ruled out because the paw prints were too small. So that left 2 remaining and we couldnāt decide. Until a little visitor decided to pay us a visit and we knew straight away the footprints belonged to them. Ask your children who the footprints belonged to?
Tomorrow the Netball team will be playing in a league match at home against Saint John Vianney. It would be really beneficial for the netballers to watch a full match and learn how this is umpired as well as to support their friends. For this reason netball has not been cancelled however if your child does not want to stay to watch the match please collect them at 3.15.
Many thanks
Miss Corkerry
